Issue with partition recovery with TI 2009 & 2011

Thread needs solution

I am trying to recover a partition (C:\) from an archive created with TI 2009. I restored once to a larger drive about 3 weeks ago & it worked fine. Then I had a power loss and Vista won;t work . I tried to recover from the TI 2009 archive set that i used before and I am getting a message saying cannot resore acrchive , possible bad media. If I try to restore a set of files it begins ok then tells me it need 2 days to restore one folder.
I have validated the archive & it passes. I can read the disk with the archive ok and the disk with the corrupted OS on it. I have tried reading the archive on another machine & can access it ok with TI 2011. I randomly selected data files and they all could be read perfectly.
I put ubuntu on the corrupted machine and it loads ok mounts the windows data drives ok and have checked the disks with self tests. They all pass. The Windows vista recovery disk is next to useless and will not repair the os. I now have a situation where I can run with Ubuntu no problem, but Vista will not restore from the archive. Is there a way to run acronis on ubuntu so I can work directly on the PC drive without using the recovery cd. Btw the Disk is a Tb & brand new.

If recovering a disk or partition image, it's recommended to do so from the ATI bootable Rescue Media.

Where is the .tib image located, and if an external drive how is it connected?

Hello there, Thank you for replying.

The tib file is on a 2TB Western Digital external drive connected using USB 2.0 It is an icremental backup with a chain of 7 files.

I have acronis 2009 on the machine I am restoring to. When I try to restore a partition (C:\ with the vista OS on it) I get a mesage saying the partion cannot be restored due to possible bad media on the acrchive disk. I tested the external disk and there are no bad sectors at all. I can see the archive on a different machine running true image 2011 and can validate it & access data files. Using the rescue disks (2009 & 2011), on the machine I am restoring to, I can see the archive on the external drive and it will allow file restores (with a huge delay) but no partition restores. When running Ubuntu on the machine I am restoring to It loads with no issues & it seems I can retrieve any data files without a problem. I can even create images of the disk. The minute I try the rescue disk to restore the partitoin I have problems. I have even downloaded the rescue disk from the acronis site again in case that was an issue.

Don't connect the USB drive via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case. See if that works better.

Using the ATI bootable Rescue Media on the PC on which you intend the restore, validate the .tib archive.
