Large Incremental files

Thread needs solution

Hi,

I'm using TI 2014 and if I do a full backup to an external HDD and immediately after it finishes do an incremental backup both backup file sizes are about the same. BTW - Defrag is disabled.

Can someone please explain the large incremental file size?

TIA

Greg

When you create the inc backup, are you clicking the option "Back up Now" located inside the same task which was used to create the full?

---------------------------
The name on the full should be
your backup name plus _full_b1_s1_v1

and the name on the inc file should be

same your backup name plus _Inc_b1_s2_v1

Is this what you have?

No, I'm doing Disk and partition backup | Backup scheme: Incremental | Backup now.

Obviously wrong.......

Greg

Each time you start a backup by clicking tghe "Disk & partition" backup, you are starting a new task and the beginning backup on any new task is always a full backup. The need to create a new task is infrequent. You need to be reusing the same task in order to get the smaller followup incremental. My posting #1 illustrates the correct method as well as these two links.

GH3. How to create a non-scheduled backup task on the first try.
GH4. Illustrate Manual Backup Now option or Repeat backups.

My signature link 2A is a must read for a listing of many of the options used in TrueImage. Note the listing of the GH examples at the end of link 2A.
