A little confused - Looking for guidance
I have an XP-Pro system running Raid-1 on a couple of 160gb drives. Unfortunately my motherboard, I believe, has a problem (possible cracked etch). It's currently running but has the POTENTIAL of crashing at any time. I'm building a new system to replace it. I'm trying to avoid doing a complete install of Windows because the version I have is pre-ServicePk1 and I'd have to do all of the updates and reload all of my programs again - PITA
HERE'S MY CONFUSION - The chipsets are different between my old MB and the new one.
How should I save off my old HD data?
Should I do away with (stop) my Raid-1 before I do the Save?
What is the best way to save ALL (including the OS) of my data, that would make a restore easiest and less likely to encounter problems? Remember the chipsets are vastly different. (going from Nvidia 610i to Z78)
I've created a Bootable Acronis CD but that's as far as I've gotten so far.
I have the PLUS-PACK and from my interpretation of what I've read this is a doable procedure, but I'm not comfortable that I completely understand how it's done. If anyone can help me, using simple terms, I would really welcome your input. Thanks!
