Lost 3-months of data due to Cloning Issue

Thread needs solution

I booted off of the CD and proceeded to clone a disk. I have four SATA drives which appear on the boot menu as SATA-1, SATA-2, SATA-3 and SATA-4. SATA-1 is my primary drive. When I initiated the clone process, I chose DISK1 to DISK2... BIG MISTAKE. I assumed DISK 1 was my SATA-1, but it was actually my SATA-3 drive, so I overwrote my primary drive with a 3-month old backup. In researching further, I discovered that the drives are listed alphabetically by hardware MODEL number and three of the four drives have the same model number. Since the drive I was trying to backup to has the same drive NAME, it appears impossible to distinguish one drive from another using your software.

ANY SUGGESTIONS??? I DON'T WANT TO LOSE ANY MORE DATA!

Hi Robert,
Detailed information about this can be found here on the forum. However, the basic premiss is this. Give your disk and or partitions meaningful names in windows prior to cloning or creating back up images.  This way, you can easily identifiy the correct disk and/or partition to be restored without mistakenly selecting the wrong source or target.
