LSI Megaraid 9265-8I

Thread needs solution

Hi there

I've been using Acronis for a while now but only recently delved into a Raid card for my system. I run:

Windows 7 Ultimate (64 Bit)
Acronis TI 2012
LSI Megaraid 9265-8I Sata/Sas PCI-Express card
OZC 120GB Sata-3 Hard drives x4 - Raid 0 mode

My question/query is this. I have restored a backup a few times now and I tend to use the Rescue CD you can create. (Have tried running restore from Windows but when it reboots and gets to the Acronis screen before Windows loads it always jsut hangs and does nothing)

When I boot of this CD there are two options. Full mode or Safe mode. In full mode my Raid partition on the LSI card is not seen. If I go safe mode it can be seen fine and I can do a restore. My restore time on a 100GB backup is around 10 hours. Surely it shouldn't take that long? Is it because it has been ran in safe mode? Why does it not see the LSI raid partition in Full mode? Ok, more like a couple of questions ;-)

Do I need to create a special type of Boot media? Is the LSI card not supported as yet? I love the software but it's not really cut out for me if a restore is going to take all day ;-(

Any advice would be much appreciated. If you need any additional info please ask.

Regards

Safe mode will be a little slower as it 'speaks' directly to the BIOS rather than using drivers. The Linux drivers seem to have problems with some RAID setups and with PC's that are using AHCI. You may find that changing the BIOS to IDE compatability will allow Linux to see the drives in 'Full' mode, this might break your RAID on the hardware side, I'm not sure.

The Plus Pack would allow you to install the RAID drivers to your rescue CD and then you would be able to use 'Full' mode. The alternative would be to install WAIK from Microsoft and again you'll need the Plus Pack make a Windows PE rescue CD, this has the advantage that it uses Windows and Windows drivers and will run at Windows speed.
