Make a bootable USB
Greetings
I just purchased TI Home 2009 (Build 9770) and set about making a bootable USB key as I don't have a spare USB CD at the moment as the machine I am imaging is a UMPC with XP tablet. I go to Tools and Create Bootable Rescue Media. It seems to write all the correct files to the USB but when you attempt to boot it says Acronis loader fatal error boot drive partition not found. I thought that when I was testing it out on Build 9709 it seemed to work ok. Maybe I'm not setting an option somewhere but it's got me stumped. Everything else seems to be ok, so If anyone can help witht he mystery it would be appreciated.
Cheers
Peter

You could try using Grub4DOS to boot the ISO file (Using Grub4DOS to Create a Bootable Drive).
I recommend using Grub4DOS for USB booting. You can add both the Acronis ISO made from the Media Builder and Mustangs PE boot disk (saved as an ISO). IN fact you can have as many boot ISO images as you want. I have V1 andV2 of Mustangs PE and Acronis 2009 Linix rescue disk on the USB drive. All boot fine on my PC but the PE versions are much faster as they use native Windows drivers.
Make sure you have your Bios trying to boot from the USB drive first- I have to change the boot sequence everytime I boot the USB but thats only once a week usually.
PS I followed the instructions in above link to make it and Mustangs site is here http://www.mechrest.com/plugins/MustangPEBuilder/MustangPEBuilder.htm

Hi Guys
Thanks for the replies. I actually used a utility called PeToUSB to do the initialisation and then used the Create Bootable Rescue Media option in Acronis. Works a treat now. I realised before I started trialling Acronis that I'd used the same utility and some other stuff when fiddling around with Bart Pe and others, so must have been still intialised with the previous version.
I guess Acronis still needs to iron some bugs out. The PeToUSB program only takes about 5 seconds to initalise the USB and it's good to go.
Cheers

What Peter says here is correct, it has taken me around 6 hours to get a solution, DO NOT ring Acronis as they cannot support this product over the phone. Run the PeToUSB, format the memory stick, after you have copied your files first. Force Dismount option if it wont let you format. Exit, Then run the Create Bootable Rescue Media from Acronis, this should then boot in most systems.

ATTENTION James and Peter:
Can you please help me understand what you are both saying, I don't understand.
Peter said he used a utility called PeToUSB to do the initialisation and then used the Create Bootable Rescue Media option in Acronis.
WHAT initialization? I loaded PeToUSB, and there's no option to select "initialization". So how do I initialize the USB stick?
Then James says, "Run the PeToUSB, format the memory stick, after you have copied your files first"
What do you mean by "Run the PeToUSB"? Run PeToUSB and do what?
And what you mean by saying after I run PeToUSB, I then format the USB stick? Doesn't that then remove everything PeToUSB is supposed to have done?
And copies WHAT files first? What do you mean? What files?
And PeToUSB has a "source path to BartPE and WinPE files". What do I select there? I don't have any BartPE and WinPE files and have no idea what they are? Do I need BartPE and WinPE files and if so where do I get them?
Thank you.
