Making cloned master drive bootable

Thread needs solution

Hello -

I need to replace my original hard disk drive with a faster one. So I've bought Acronis and used the clone function to make a copy of the hard drive containing my system files etc unto a second, faster, empty hard drive. Looking at the two drives, their contents do seem identical. Now I would want to remove the older one. But no. I get a message saying "insert bootable drive" etc, so apparently the contents is there but the disk fails to start as a boot-up-the-computer disk. What should I do?

best,

Petter

Are you using Vista or Windows 7?

I won't be replying to your answer immediately as I'm leaving for work.

My UEFI (BIOS) allows me to select which drive I want to boot from. I have cloned a second HDD as my boot drive and then if I wish to try it out, I select it as the boot drive and it boots fine.
