Thread needs solution

I received an email today from Acronis offering to sell me an upgrade to my True Image program to "add a powerful extra feature". The "brand-new Plus Pack" will permit me to restore to different hardware. I thought this feature was already included in the 2013 True Image. Am I correct in believing that if my hard drive fails and I have a recent True Image backup I will be able to buy and install a new hard drive and restore the backup image to the new drive?

The primary purpose of backing up is to protect oneself from hard drive failure. I don’t think anyone would buy a backup program knowing that any backup would be useless in the event of a hard drive failure because replacing the hard drive would constitute “different hardware.”

If I did indeed buy a backup program that does not protect me from hard drive failure, I need to correct that error as soon as possible. I will try reading the advertising and the product documentation to find the answer, but I’m hoping one of you already knows.

Thanks.

The Migration option ("Plus Pack") is used to restore to different hardware on the system board. A different hard drive is not considered "different hardware' when used in this aspect. You do not need to purchase the Plus Pack, unless you need any of the extra features it provides, to restore to a new hard drive in the same system.
