Mirror / Dynamic HD's

Thread needs solution

Hello all,
I am using TI Home 2010 v 7046 with Windows 7\64 Pro...I'm considering "Mirroring" my Data drive 1TB, with another 1TB HD. I use the now "Basic" 1TB drive to hold my TI backups, once converted to "dynamic"( and Mirrored) will my images still be OK? Will TI still be able to "see" and use the Images?... Regards Fred

JustPlainFred,

According to http://kb.acronis.com/content/2974, ATI without the Plus Pack will not detect a dynamic disk and you will not be able to use it as a backup destination.
Of course you can test it for yourself. Don't remember to test the recovery CD ability to see them correctly also!

Hi Pat,
Thanks for your reply ..and the link. I have "plus pack" and as soon as i finish backing up my Data Drive i will try the "mirror thing". My thinking is that if i "mirror my Data Drive with an identical one ...they become "synced" I then will remove one and install it now and again to let it "re-sync" with the original...Kinda like a "incremental clone" Don't know if this is possible ...but I'm going to try.. As soon as the HD prices come down a bit... Regards Fred

Did you try whether Windows disk management let's you break the RAID1 without loss of data? I know some Intel hardware controller let you do this in RAID 1, but I am not sure about Windows RAID.

If all what you are doing is synching up 2 data disks, you could consider synching software like Syncback.
