Modifying pre-installed setup.

Thread needs solution

My Scan computer came with Acronis True Image Home 2011 pre-installed. System files were protected on a 30GB secure partition. I have now installed a second hard drive and would like to back-up System and all other files.
How should I proceed. I have spent 2 hours studing the documentation and can find nothing that fits my case.

If you have vista or w7 then you should expect to have a reserved partition that contains the boot manager and, depending on the manufacturer, sometimes some of the files the manufacturer supplied to recover the hdisk to it's original as-shipped state. These partitions are usually 100MB (all the windows needs) but can be much larger depending on what else is stored there.

My guess is that is what you have here. Note that if you need to restore your system to a new hdisk, you will want to restore system reserved partition too and let it be the one marked as Active.

As Scott has indicated, the type of backup that you want or need in order to restore your system to an old or new disk is a backup which includes all partitions on the disk. In TrueImage, this type backup is created under "disk mode." Check the link below and figures 3,4,and 5 which shows disk mode. This example is for 2012 but applicable to 2011.
