Mounting image and exploring image doesn't seem to work for me?
I'm sorry, I'm sure this is a stupid question, and I'm doing something wrong. But I've had so many frustrating computer experiences the past couple of weeks.....I'll risk your disdain.
For years, I happily imaged my computer using Acronis TI, started with version 8, I think, and upgraded to version 11 on a Vista PC. When my hard drive crashed many years after I purchased it, I was able to successfully restore it using Acronis TI Home ver 11, unfortunately I had a hardware failure that corrupted files, so the images I had were bad. Ok, it was time for a new computer.
So I was lucky enough to be able to find a nice Windows 7 PC at a local store (I'm sorry, I don't have the time to learn a completely different interface at the moment). It's running the 64bit version of Home Premium, and it's great. I upgraded my version of Acronis TI today to 2013, and seem to have successfully backed up my system drive.
But with TI 11, all I needed to do to explore a *.tib archive, was click on it. That doesn't work now. When I click on it, nothing happens. Windows doesn't seem to be associating the file with any program.
When I try to mount the image, I see a little box that says "Cannot assign a drive letter to a partition from the backup archive."
Something that might be contributing to the situation, is one of my drives is a Seagate drive, and I previously installed Seagate DiscWizard, and did one backup with it. I'm pretty sure I was able to explore that backup before I installed Acronis TI 2013, but I'm no longer able to. And I know Seagate's DiscWizard creates Acronis TI files.
Any ideas? Please?
eta: I'm not actually completely certain I was able to explore the Seagate DiscWizard backup before installing Acronis TI 2013, I'm a little fuzzy on that. Though I'm pretty sure I was able to. I've had a crash on my computer and an update to my tablet trashed it, all within a week or so. My brain is slightly scrambled.

Thanks, yes I was missing the options in the mount window, and it seems I was trying to mount unmountable partitions. Once I unchecked them, the OS partition mounted without a problem.
I'm still unable to simply click on the tib file from Windows Explorer to open the backup file, without mounting it. When I tried, nothing happened. I noticed it wasn't associated with a program, it was identified as a Windows Explorer folder. So I tried associating it with one of the executable files in the TrueImageHome directory, and now when I click on it, the True Image program starts. I can probably live with this, now that I know how to mount the image(!). But there are a number of executable files in the TrueImageHome directory, do you know which one I should be associating with tib files?
Thanks again.

My suggestion would be to
Uninstall
Run the Acronis Cleanlup utiiity (link below)
be sure and follow the special instructions listed at the bottom of the KB article.
Re-install.
As best I know,The tib is not associated with any specific file and it association is all behind the scenes with Explorer.
My XP pro has no association and it opens tib files correctly.
You might also look inside the Device Manager and see if any of the Acronis listings have "!" beside them or duplicate listings.

Nothing seems amiss in Device Manager. I show two Acronis Devices, and they reportedly are working properly.
Thanks much, I'll follow your advice.

Just to clarify, the device manager has one device listed for Acronis and inside that listing, there are two entries as abpve/
The unintall should correct any issue here if there is one.

You are correct, of course, about the device. Thanks for clarifying.
And you are also correct about the uninstall and reinstall fixing the issue I was experiencing when exploring an image file. It now works just like I'd expected it to. Thank you!!
I noticed earlier, that Seagate DiscWizard is no longer installed on my computer. I assume TIH uninstalled it during the original installation, and the problem arose during that process. After the first installation, I was forced to reboot (in a rather sudden and unexpected way, I lost a document that I hadn't yet saved). This time no reboot was required, everything went very smoothly.

Yes, I would believe the issue to have been caused by the conflicts between the two versions. Using the cleanup utiility also helped to cleanup any residue from DiscWizard.
I'm glad this went well for you.
