Move Task from old Win7 x64 build to new Win7 x64 build - 2010 TI build 7046

Thread needs solution

I had 2010 build 7046 running on my Win7 Ultimate x64 system and due to various software issues I build a new Win7 Ultimate x64 image and now I've installed 2010 TI build 7046. How do I transfer the task from the old build to the new build. I cannot find the task and I'm not exactly sure what I should be looking for. I opened the TI image of my old build and in the folder C:\Users\jgt\AppData\Roaming\Acronis I found two folders "BackupScripts" and "TrueImageHome". I copied these to the same location on the new build but this did not seem to do anything for me.

Using EveryThing (great search utility) I searched my new build for "Acronis" and I don't find anything that helps me identity where the task (or are they scripts) are stored.

I don't think you can transfer tasks and have them work. Task information is stored on the drive, in the Registry, and also linked to drive ID values. You'd probably be better off to just recreate the tasks.

If you can transfer task it is very well hidden. I've started to recreate the various task and will now have to go through the darn learning curve to recreate what I previously had created (darn).

I did transfer 16 Acronis BU's to my new Win 7

Only problem is that they are now UNSCHEDULED.

I have to reschedule them. No change in naming of tasks.
Relatively easy rather than recreate by name all the tasks.

Where? Lost it...could be on my XP side. I will come back when I find the source.

BTW...Acronis staff do not know anything about this..should-they said: TOUGH in essence.

Task importing and exporting is expected to be available in TI 2011 when it is released. Until then, it is not possible to copy/insert tasks made with one installation (same PC) or in some cases whilst upgrading a version to have them work in a repeatable manner.

If you read my post about my 16 tasks...retyping the whole thing was saved. NATURALLY THE TASKS WERE BURIED.

I did 'IMPORT' the tasks...as noted: Unscheduled. It was sort of easy to EDIT and assign a SCHEDULE.

Not a good reason to buy an upgrade. Nice try.

Harry,

As TI 2011 isn't released that mention was purely for information purposes only.

As I noted inserting the tasks doesn't always work - refers to TI 2009/2010, the fact you managed to get it to work doesn't guarantee that it will the next time. The same applies where an upgrade finds the tasks and renders them unscheduled, editing them and applying a schedule sometimes works, but more often than not it doesn't work reliably and it is less frustation (though not annoyance) to manually remake the tasks.

As you note, 'maybe not the next time' etc.

Even in XP, my Acronis had problems in that it did not over write some old jobs-it assigned a *.(1) to a new saved job.

I had to reedit all schedules-take out some items and put the same ones back in.

As I am not fully into Win 7, we shall see if I am in luck.
