Requirements:

1. You must have the Acronis product installed on the computer you are using to build the CD for the Acronis plugins to work.

2. MustangPEBuilder 2 is intended for use with Windows XP SP2, Windows XP SP3, any version of Vista, Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. MustangPEBuilder 2 is also fully compatible with Windows 7 Beta build 7000.

3. You must download and install the free Microsoft Windows Automated Installation Kit from here WAIK. The WAIK is backwards compatible to Windows XP SP2. See the system requirements provided by Microsoft at the link. Windows 7 users will need to use the Windows 7 WAIK.

4. MustangPEBuilder 2 is intended for 32 bit systems. 64 bit systems are not supported. The Acronis Plugins will not work on a 64 bit system.

Thanks Grover.

I've been using True Image on my XP system since 2007.

After some trial and error including suggestions from True Image support, I found the only way I could restore my hard drive was by booting from a disk created using Mustang's plugin.

Before spending the money for the latest build I wanted to make sure it will be compatible with Windows 7.

Thanks Bud.

Just to make sure it's clear what you're asking: Do you want to know if you can install TI 2010 in Windows 7 (32-bit) and then use MPEBuilder 2 to create a TI CD? Note that this CD should be nearly identical to one created on Vista or XP.

I would think that MPEBuilder 2 wouldn't have any problems in Windows 7. However, I haven't tried it in the final release yet. I can, if you want, and post back with the results.

Yes that's exactly what I'm asking. My old OS was XP and I did a clean install of Windows 7 (32 bit) Home Premium.

If you could try it with the final release and TI 2010 it would be reassuring.

Thanks Bud.

I used PEBuilder 2 with the final Windows 7 WAIK with the latest TI2010 (which was installed on Vista)

Whilst it built OK I have a problem

Haven't managed to get hold of Mustang yet

You'll probably find that there is no need for any kind of plug-in to be able to run the 2010 Rescue CD successfully. It seems to have a lot more drivers to detect a wide variety of usb devices.

I ran into a few problems trying to create a build in Windows 7 (32-bit) with the Windows 7 WAIK. I'll post back when I know more.

I like the speed of the Windows PE vs the Linux CD

I was burned once using the rescue CD.

I had to reinstall Windows XP after a failed restore. The PEBuider disk was the only way I could restore my backup.

You can understand why I'm a little gun shy now.

Bud

For me, the PEBuilder for 2009 version is the only rescue CD that has the correct screen resolution for my restores.

Now it's funny this should come up because I have a VistaPE and a WinPE disk which was built for a 32 bit system. Last night I had occasion to restore my Windows 7 64 bit image. I never give a thought to the disk not working. I put the disk in the machine and it fired up and worked fine. However, just before I clicked to reinstall I realised I was using the VistaPE disk so took it out and used the WinPE disk instead. This too worked fine and I restored the image without any problems. I am using TI 2009 by the way.
