Need clarification on EXT4 Support
My questions applies to both version 2011 and 2012.
In KB article 13648, the following is stated:
"*The Ext2/Ext3/Ext4, ReiserFS, and Linux SWAP file systems are supported only for disk or partition backup/recovery operations. You cannot use Acronis True Image Home for file-level operations with these file systems (file backup, recovery, search, as well as image mounting and file recovering from images), as well as for backups to disks or partitions with these file systems."
I'm not sure I understand that. Specifically, I am contemplating purchasing a Synology DS111 Network Attached Storage Device which I am told formats its hard drive with EXT4. I was hoping to perform image backups from my four individual home computers (each of which runs a version of Windows - XP 32, Vista 32, and Win764) and store the images across the network onto the NAS device. I would plan on initiating Acronis from the individual PCs. I would, of course, also need the capability of booting the individual PCs with the Acronis emergency Recovery CD and restoring the image across the network from the NAS device if I had to. Would Acronis 2011 or 2012 be able to deal with the EXT4 formatted NAS hard drive and do what I want to do?

Wayne,
Additionally, be aware that we saw many users with NAS backup and recovery issues on this forum. So you will have to run tests for yourself anyway, in particular the ability to restore from the CD from the NAS.
