Need Instructions for Recovery

Thread needs solution

Several months ago, my laptop (HP 530 Notebook PC) starting behaving strangely. I suspected that the hard drive was failing. I made a full image backup and several weeks later - it had not yet failed - I made an incremental backup. The destination for the backups was a WD Passport external USB hard drive.

I've given up on the laptop and now want to recover the files from the Passport to a desktop system. I do NOT want to do a System Restore; I only want to recover the data. To that end, I created a folder on my desktop system into which I want to bring the data from the Passport. The problem is I can't figure out how to do it.

I downloaded an update to my Acronis True Image Home Edition 2010 today (6 March) and installed it on my desktop system. I can load the A-TIHE software. I need to know 1) if I can recover just the files, 2) if so, will the recovery recreate the folders and files where I tell it to, 3) again, if it's possible, where do I find the instructions that will explain this to me.

Thank you for any help you can render.

Hi RH Hutchins,

Thank you for opening a thread regarding this question.

In your situation I would advise you to mount the image and copy the files you need from it. Please find the detailed information on how to mount and explore the backups in the Chapter 17, p. 137 in the Acronis True Image Home 2010 User Guide.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you.
