Network Backup, folder shows itself (Windows 8)

Thread needs solution

Hi,

after upgrading from Windows 7 Ult to Windows 8 Pro (fresh install), i installed True Image 2013 again and set up a Network Backup to my NAS (QNAP 459 Pro II). This worked and still works fine. Share is over Samba (Windows Share).

It worked on the Windows 7 Ult machine, no problems. (have 3 licences)

But when trying to setup a new Backup or search for the old backups, I can't go into the shared folder. It just keeps showing itself (file attachment). The already configured backup (..2_C) still works.
done: reboot NAS, Windows, tried new user.

System Windows 8 Pro
True Image 2013 Build 5551 Plus pack
NAS QNAP 459 ProII

Thanks,
Georg

Do you have any Nortons products installed and running?

What happens if you access the NAS via UNC or IP address?

No Norton, no Firewall.

access to NAS via Explorer works fine. how can I specify a URL in True Image?

Where a file name is required enter either \\NAS_NAME\share_folder_name\file_name or the NAS IP address 192.168.x.x /folder name

both methods lead to the same backup in a backup folder structure. happens also with other folders.
still works on a different win7 machine. already configured backup still works too.

OK, this might be a SNAPAPI problem or it is clashing with another upper filters entry (the reason I asked about Nortons). Do you have InCD (Nero) or Drag2Disk from Roxio installed and running? If you do, try disabling them, also if you have any of the utilities provided by Western Digital external drives running or a WD external box attached, these have all been known to cause weirdness in the past.

If you are still within your 30 day support period I would suggest raising a ticket and attach an Acrnis system report to it.

no Incd or drag2disk. only have an internal WD drive. but no WD tool installed.

thanks for your help. i'll try to open a ticket then.
