Never ending backup after full system restore from bootable CD

Thread needs solution

Please help! I have tried to get in touch with Tech Support but this is simply impossible, when running a trial version. I installed ATIH 2010, instantly ran a one-click backup to my D drive (a physical separate disk from the C system disk) as prompted. Then created a bootable recovery disk also as requested. As I want a Win7 disk restore solution, to replace Norton Ghost 2003, I choose Acronis True Image Home 2010. I booted from the disk and ran a full system restore. It worked just fine. So far so good. But when launcking ATIH it indicated that my system is a risk and I need to backup again. OK I ran another backup just to find that ATIH have now created two 13GB backup files on my D-drive: The initial named My Backup (13GB) and a new one named "timestamp" (13GB) - I could continue to to this as every time I launch ATIH It indicated with read the alert that I should mape a backup of my system (your system is at risk and-so-on). What is wrong and how to correct it? Any help appreciated. Anders

Hello Anders,

I understand your question and will do my best to give you clear explanation.

The program changes protection state alert only after the backup archive is finished. So in your case when you restore the image protection state window reverts to unprotected as it was before the image creation.

If the issue persists after you created backup archive and still see unprotected state then in order to solve it please do the following:

Browse to where the product's backup database is stored:

/Documents and Settings/All Users/Application Data/Acronis/TrueImageHome/Database

  • Open the archive.xml file in a text editor (e.g. Notepad):

  • Find the following string:

    Archive DataType="0" Flags="0"

    And change it to:

    Archive DataType="0" Flags="8"

  • Save the file with the exact same name: archive.xml

Let me know if the issue persists.

Thank You.
