New build 9809 of TIH 2009 available

Thread needs solution

I noticed this morning Acronis has posted True Image 2009 Home Build 9809 (English).  Release notes below. Interesting... in my experience (going back to TI 8) they very seldom update version X when version X+1 has been released. Also interesting is the first fixed issue, "Acronis True Image Home creates corrupted system state backups in Windows 7". I thought 2009 was not certified for Windows 7?

Release Notes for Acronis True Image 2009 Home Build 9809

Fixed issues:

  • Acronis True Image Home creates corrupted system state backups in Windows 7.
  • Vista restore points are not restored even if the restore task has "Restore MBR" and the "Restore disk signature" options enabled.
  • The "Silent mode" option does not work for data backup.
  • Acronis True Image Home cannot back up to DVD which is mounted as a HDD folder in Windows Vista.
  • Acronis True Image Home does not check available space during creation of Acronis bootable media on a USB flash drive.
  • By default the size of the "Status" column in "Tasks and Log -> Scheduled / Unscheduled tasks" is too small for displaying "Running" or "Completed with errors" statuses.
  • Incorrect program behavior when one changes the "Application" field in the "Fonts" menu.
  • E-mail encryption parameters cannot be saved correctly (TLS changes to SSL).
  • Credentials for a backup destination place on a network share cannot be saved.
  • Source file exclusion option does not work in a Disk backup Wizard in Acronis bootable media.
  • Acronis taskbar does not pop up in Windows XP when Acronis True Image Home is running.

Known issues:

  • Disk cloning operation corrupts Linux boot loader. Use the Linux boot diskette to make the cloned Linux system bootable.
  • The "Protection tools" window does not update the Acronis Startup Recovery Manager status when it is activated/deactivated.

"How do I find out whether TIH 2009 will work on Windows 7"

Michael: I have TI 2009 build 9809 running on my Win 7/64 system and it does everything that I ask of it. I'm very happy.

Michael:

I don't know what 9770 will do on Win-7. I think there will be problems. Why not download the 9809 update, it should be free.
Be SURE to remove the 9770 completely before installing 9809.

Log into your Acronis account and 9809 will be available to you as long as you have registered 9770.

Also download the optional boot CD iso while you are there. It makes a nice alternative to the CD you will build with 9809.

Many thanks for your advice. I have now downloaded 9809 and copied it to disk to enable the install on the new Win 7 machine due tomorrow!
Which is the file for the boot CD?

How about a new build for Acronis True Image Home 2010?. Why the release of a new build for a former version?.

There is only one way to find out if TI of any version, of any build and on any system will work is to try it, period.
A 1000 people can say it works on their Windows XX system and it does not mean that it will work on yours given differences in hardware and configurations.

Download the version or the trial of the version and create an archive. The absolute best test is to restore it to a spare drive (spare in case it doesn't work and blows your system partition away since one of the first thing TI does when restoring a partition image is to delete the partition.

If you don't want to do the above, the next best thing is to create the rescue CD which you should anyway. Do a validate of an existing image with the CD version. Very important since it is Linux, not Windows, and just because the Windows create and Validate work it doesn't mean the Linux environment will. Regular Windows can't be running when the active partition is restored so a Linux environment is used.

Hi Kins
Because I have TIH 2009 and not the newer version, which would cost me money to buy!

Trial version is free for 30 days.

Build 9809 was released last year, 20th November

b9770 will probably work performing basic disk images, but may have difficulties with a files and folder backups and possibly scheduling problems that are also with some versions of 2010. Mounting definitely won't work, though I believe 9809 will mount.

How do I download the latest build? I cannot seem to find any place on the website to get the update for TIH 2009.

Thx

If you have registered your TI 2009 purchase under your account on the Acronis website, you will have access to the latest build.

If you haven't, then you'll need to have your serial number handy and complete your registration details after clicking on User Login at the top right of the webpage.

I'll have to check, but I didn't think TI 2009 could use dynamic disks.

If you didn't have problems with the previous build, I'd uninstall build 9809 and re-install the previous one.

Thanks for the answer.
Хм, "did not think that 2009 TI could use dynamic disks."

But at me is not present - previous.

Moreover - at loading Linux the loader
"Full" archive Acronis - searches for a certain 1 part?!
And the matter is that it with the password also is ciphered.
If repeatedly to specify "to stick with a nose" into file Acronis,
That suggests to enter the password and successfully restores,
(Also does not demand a certain 1 part - which does not exist).
