New Update in Acronis True Image 2011
Hello together,
i youse Acronis True Image 2011 and habe installed the Build 6868 and also the Hotfix for this Version and in the result it shows me "Acronis True Image 2011, Update 2 (Build 6879)
The Build 6868 and also the Hotfix i have found at the Acronis Homepage.
But today when i start Acronis i get a message, that a new version of Acronis 2011 is avaiable. Bevore i download it ihave look to the Webseite of Acronis - but there i do not found any information about a new version and also no link for a Download.
So my Question is - what kind of Update and witch Build Nummer is it and why did they do not post them at the Website? Because i have other Computers to update - and they will have no internet access and cannot use the update function direct from the programm. What is a way to update this computer?
Excuse my bad English :-) I am German
Who can give me more information?

Things do change fast at Acronis, It seems fixes come out every day !!!
See this post: http://forum.acronis.com/forum/25167
O! look, they just put another hotfix into the new release. Are we supposed to install this hotfix too?

I don't see a hotfix for 6942. I'm not sure why they still have the hotfix posted, but it appears to me to be a hotfix for 6868. If you download it, right click and choose properties, then look in the details tab it indicates it's product version 14,0,0,6868.

I, too, am downloading the v6942 update and for the first time (ever) since using Acronis for over a decade, noticed a "hotfix."
Ignoring for the moment that I am baffled by its existence at all, I noticed what the prior poster @Gork said: That the details of the file mention version 6868.
Now, I am currently running v6868, with v6868 plus pack and v6868 media add-ons (i.e. Safe Mode).
I am all ready to upgrade to version 6942, but don't know what to do about this "hotfix." And that's putting it mildly, I have many questions.
Is it a hotfix for v6942 that is mislabled?
Is it a hotfix for v6868 that I never applied?
--and if so, do I need to apply it first before upgrading to v6942?
----and if I do, at what point in the following sequence to do I install the hotfix (which in my case would be a *fourth* manual update: 1. Update Acronis TI Home 2011, 2. Update Acronis TI Home 2011 Plus Pack, 3. Update Acronis TI Home 2011 Safe Media Add-ons.
What the heck is it for? Since its a hotfix, I am assuming it is not meant for everybody. Otherwise, it'd have been a full blown update.
Why oh why is there no mention of this hotfix in the release notes?
Why is there no sticky for this hotfix in the forums?
Why didn't automatic update automatically install it? or did it? and how can I check?
Love Acronis... always have. Make all my fam and friensd get it to make my life easier when they call for help. But this one has me completely confounded and confused.

Thanks to all that are now getting concerned. At least I am not the only one that is confused on what, where, how and when to install all these recent fixes. ... and yes it would be nice to know what they are fixing.
Note: Hotfix 3 is now showing as applicable to the newest #6942 update that was just released ....
see this page: http://www.acronis.com/support/updates/
So I am still confused

Terry,
When I click on your link, and then click on the hot fix link, it would seem that the hot fix is applicable only to the prior 6868.

As @GroverH noted, if you follow Steilen's link it shows ATIH 2011 with a link entitled "hotfix available" and another link entitled "Build 6942." If you click on the "hotfix available" link the resulting page indicates: "Release Notes for Acronis True Image Home 2011 Hotfix 3 for Build 6868." So, this seems to be a confirmation of what I stated previously.
@loox
I've never received a definitive answer on the proper way to upgrade to a new build when you have ATIH and PP both installed. (Though I have asked many times.) This is how I upgraded from 6868 to 6942. It kept all my settings, and remembered all my backups etc.
1) Just to be clear... I had ATIH 2011 build 6868 installed with Plus Pack build 6868 and NO previous hotfix. (I chose to wait for the next full build instead of applying a hotfix because I never received clarification on whether or not the hotfix would work properly with Plus Pack.)
2) First step of the upgrade process... Uninstall Plus Pack. Leave ATIH 2011 build 6868 installed.
3) Install build ATIH 6942 over build 6868, it will upgrade properly. (At least it for me.)
4) Install Plus Pack build 6942.
I've found no problems with the upgrade process after following these steps.

I have always followed this upgrate process when installing a new build and have not had major issues. The biggest issue I've run into is with the Linux Bootable media recognizing my devices - particularly the network interface.
1) Install the new build for the ATHI Base product (I believe this completely replaces the previous build as if a fresh install).
2) Install the Plus Pack for the new build.
3) Download the recovery media iso and burn a new Linux based recovery CD
4) Burn a new WinPE based Recovery CD using the freshly installed Plus Pack
5) Test functionality of #3 and #4 to ensure network drivers work. Perform test backups and restores with both CD's.
6) Ensure all backup jobs are intact.
7) Execute test backup and restores with new version.
8) Verify previously scheduled backups work at scheduled times.
9) Perform test restores from backups created with prior builds.
For those that have the Plus Pack, I highly recommend using the WinPE based recovery media. It takes longer to boot, but my backups to/restores from SAN / file server run many times faster than the Linux based ATIH bootable media. YMMV, though.

Thanks for the updated information. I did not try to install hotfix 3, as 4 days ago, I applied hotfix 2 to 6868 and it gave me a new version number #6879, then the next day Hotfix 3 came out, and I applied it. The version number stayed the same at 6879, but it said that the fix applied. (Evidently, I should have gone back to 6868 ... maybe) ! Then the next day 6942 came out. And then Hotfix3 showed up again on the web page.
So hopefully 6942 is the most up-to-date version, and I can start building restore disks ... or should I wait for tomorrows set of fixes !!! Hopefully, just kidding !
Thanks

Yes 6942 is the latest build.

I have upgraded both ways. Uninstalling and installing right over the top and haven't had a problem yet. However, I still recommend installing any new software as a fresh install. You never know when something from the previous version will be left behind, so it's always better to do a fresh install.
