New User Cloning Operation Error

Thread needs solution

I am trying to clone my Original 320GB Hard Disk C: to a New 500GB hard disk - which will then become my new C; used to boot up (The Original disk will be removed).

The Cloning operation starts, and then after about 15 seconds I receive a message saying Operation Failed. Error Code: 10 'File system error is found' with extended code: 458776 'MFT bitmap corrupted'

I have run CHKDSK and no errors found. (Note - ran this from Command Prompt - as instructed in Forum # 29134: Cloning problem with ATI WD Edition - posted 2012-0204.)

I have reviewed the User Forums, but am unsure of my next step>

Are there any other things I should try?

Thank you.

Update - I ran CheckDisk from windows for the c: drive. It ran for several hours. As it ended I noticed a message that said MFP BMP has been corrected. Since this is similar to the error message I received - my fingers are crossed. Will let you know how it goes as I try to clone again. Here it goes .....

Yes, keep us posted. The results of the chkdsk on C can be found in the Windows Events log under the Applications section.

Success !!!

Check Disk fixed an error on the original hard disk which was preventing Clone Disk from operating properly. Once original disk corrected, clone ran properly and has created a duplicate, bootable hard disk.
