[newbie] backup file by file

Thread needs solution

Hi to all
I have True Image 2013.

Question 1)
I would like to know if I can make a backup without compression and without packaging of file.
I have not disk space problems because I have not big file to backup, but I want an automatic backup and also I want to browse my backup directory location as a normal file system (without using backup viewer/navitagor).

Question 2)
Another related question.
What happens if I made a backup with compression on a external storage disk and this one damages some sector? Are data partially restorable or I lost all the backup?

thank you

Hello Daniele,

sorry for the delayed answer.

1) You can create backup without compression but anyway it will be created in .tib format. It means you won't be able to browse it from the machine without installed Acronis True Image. However, it is not necessarily required on machine with(!) installed Acronis True Image to start the application itself and to use Backup Explorer. You can browse backups in Windows Explorer as well. Double-clicking on a filename opens the backup file as a usual folder.

2) If backup file gets damaged for any reason it becomes unrestorable. That is why we always recommend to validate backup archives from time to time.

Thank you.

Hi Anna
regard question 2... I always run the validation of backup, but when I wrote "damage some sector" I mean what happen if the hard disk where the backup is saved (after validation) lost some byte or sectors.
If I make a file by file backup I lost one or more files (depend of how many sector are lost) ... but using .tib file I'll lost entire backup?
