No access rights after backup

Hello,

some time ago I created a backup with a bootable Acronis True Image Home CD. The backup file was saved to a USB hdd. But now I can't access the folder which was created by Acronis due to missing access rights under Windows.

I think it's because the bootable Acronis application run without Windows and set it's own rights to the folder (or no rights at all), so I can't access the folder in Windows. Is this correct? The question is why and how can I get access to the folder again?

First change owner to yourself ( may require booting in safe mode in home windows) then assign necessary privileges using cacls command (eg. builtin:users : read and write )
