no full disk recovery in boot CD?

Hi,
I just booted the recovery CD and I found something very weird: I don't have my partitions any more on the disk and I thought the recovery should take care of that. Imagine my surprise when I selected my backup, and then it asks me to assign parition to partition. It's pretty hard to point 8 partitions when you only have one. The full version (on Windows) can select full backup to entire disk without pointing partitions, why not the Linux version (recovery) has it? it's booting to Linux to do the job anyway, why is this GUI piece missing?
