No Shutdown and errors

Thread needs solution

My backup should close the machine down after completion but often does not shut down, hanging with the 'operations are taking place' screen in place until I eventually have to re-start the machine by powering off.

I attach the log file. The backups have been taking place normally for 10 days so it is obvious that the file it is seeking does exist and indeed it finds it in the end.

This is my backup and it bothers me to see errors in it. Any thoughts welcome. There is more than enough disk space left. The backup is scheduled to run on shut down.

David,

This problem has been occurring for a number of people, th eproblem is, that it is proving difficult to find out if there is another utility running in the background that is not allowing TI to send the shutdown signal or if TI is preventing some other program from closing. Both seem to be valid probabilities.

Some things to try:

1. Run chkdsk /f on both the source and destination drive - if TI finds a sector it doesn't like it can exhibit this behaviour.

2. Check in Windows Process Manager (you might need to download this from Microsoft Sysinternals site) and see if that shows other programs stopping TI from sending the shutdown signal.

3. Check in Windows Event Manager and see if there are any warnings shown here. - In fact make this number 2 and the above paragraph #3.

4. The workaround in most cases is to make a post task script and get True Image to run that to shut the PC down, unticking the TI shutdown option.

Depending on if you are running XP/Vista or W7/8 depends on the actual script that needs to be made.
