non-raid vista x64 image restore to raid0 vistax64, possible?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

here's the problem hopefully someone could help.
True image 10 home is the product.

As of now when ever I want to restore (in full mode) I get "no hdd detected", I have to do it in safe mode.

os = vista 64bit
motherboard= asus p5e3 deluxe wifi

Image of vista 64bit is on a new 2TB hd along other backups. The os in that image is non raid.

Keeping that in mind would the following be possible:

-2 hdd of 1TB each will be set up as raid 0.
-Is it possible to restore the image to that raid setup?
-would true image see my raid as 1 hdd or 2 hdd?
-If it can be restored, will vista be bright enough to detect and install the raid drivers needed (as it does when any new hardware is plugged into a pc, for ex: when I've switched from standard IDE to AHCI it was able to detect the change and load the new drivers by itself )

thank you

Are you using TI 10 or TI 2010?

The Safe Mode (SafeMedia) version of TI should see the RAID setup correctly as it's seen in the BIOS and you should be able to restore the image. However, the only way to know for sure would be to try it.

Usually, it's best to have the RAID drivers installed in the image before you restore it. For example: Boot into Windows, install the RAID drivers (may need to do a "force" install, if possible), create the image, shutdown and setup the RAID, restore the image to the RAID setup, and finally, boot into Windows.

However, it really depends on the system and the drivers. Windows may be able to detect the change and startup okay. If you're comfortable with backing up and restoring and know it works, there's really no harm in trying.
