Nonstop Backup should support local network drives
Hello,
To compete with other products, for example Genie Timeline, Nonstop Backup should support mapped network drives also. Is it planned or possible using latest TI 2010 build (5055)?
I tried it, but it doesn't see my mapped network drive. Local networks (especially with 802.11n) are fast and reliable enough to support that feature.
Thank you very much!

I am evaluating TI 2010 with a 30 day trial copy. My small business uses network-based RAID storage on my LAN. I can use TI 2010 to do an image storage to this storage, or to do a traditional backup to this storage. For some reason TI 2010 does not auto discover my mapped network drive, but I can Browse to it successfully. But non-stop backup does not see the mapped drive and has no Browse feature to discover the storage on my network! This is a severe feature deficiency that causes me to disqualify TI 2010 from my backup application search. Every other backup app like Genie or Norton easily auto discovers and supports network (LAN) storage. I want to use TI 2010 but if it cannot support my LAN RAID then this is completely impossible.

Hi,
I support Ken's opinion.
Additionally it is confusing that Acronis seems not to know itself it this works. In http://forum.acronis.com/forum/4440 Dmitry writes: "You can use nonstop backup for remotely attached hard drive as storage place."
Two contrary answers :-(...

TI 2010 build 6029 user on three machines, tied to a -N wirless system:
I will third Ken's note.
HOWEVER, since I see Non-Stop back up as an immediate reversal of some problem that occures when I am around, I keep it on an internal drive specific to that particular machine.
I dont view NonStop as disaster recovery, but I do image it to my NAS.
I do (and keep) VERY regular Disk Images and differentials on my NAS/RAID as I can remove the drives in about thirty seconds and take them with me or to off site storage when I travel.

There's a slightly odd feature of the Plus Pack - in the features list under "Storage media" is "Networked Storage Devices"... Does this mean that with the Plus Pack we can nonstop to NAS? You don't need the Plus Pack to back up to network drives normally.
