Not all backup versions detected?

Thread needs solution

Hello,

backups are made every 2 days and backups are saved on my disk from November 17th to 2014 to January 17 2015. However, if I start a recovery, I see only the versions from December 1st 2014 to January 7th 2015. Where do I find the other versions?

I attach screenshots from Windows-Explorer showing the savesets available and from Acronis, showing the Versions seen by the recovery.

Any hints are welcome. I am using Acronis 2014.

Best wishes

Hermann-Josef

Examine storage folder carefully and attempt to confirm that the first backups 9 backups (s1-s9) of B1 exist. If missing, none of B1 has any value.

Did you restore your system just prior to Dec 1? The numbering changes from V1 to a V1-2

Much of your backups show isses with the v numbering.

My suggestion is that you boot from the TI Recovery CD and
run manual validation on each of the 3 backups listed below to make sure you have no restore issues with these chains.

Create a new backup task and begin a new backup series with new task and with a new storage folder or sub-folder.

Hello,

thanks you for your answer.

s1-s9 do no longer exhist. So I will delete the rest of the B1 series. Maybe I had changed the number of backup versions in the setup, I cannot remember exactly. Maybe this is the reason s1-s9 got deleted by Acronis?

No, I had not restored the system at that time.

I will run the valididation and see if the rest are usable backups. If not, I will have to create a new task and save things in a separate folder, before deleting the unusable.

A questions, which worries me, is how things like this could happen. The backups were running in background and I had not checked them for months. I am fortunate, that I do not need them at the moment. I just by accident came accross this, when I made a manual incremental backup of my system disk, when I saw the strange start of the backups for my data disk (no large archive to begin the B1 series).

Please review.

Start a new task with new numbering and new storage location even if the validation is affirmative.

GH12. Create Custom Incremental Backup Scheme. 6 Inc, Keep 4 chains. The 6-4 is an example only with user choice for whatever number of chains to be retained best fits the individual needs.

I don't know why you had issues which is one reason why I want you to start a new task.
