Nothing has changed - ATI 2010 - BSOD
Here we go again. I was really excited to see a new version until I ran it. The error happens when I plug in a USB Thumb drive, just like the previous version. I would rather you fix problems than to push a new broken version. I really want this fixed or give me a way to remove the Try & Decide piece. MEMORY DUMPS ATTACHED

KERNEL_MODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (8e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c0000005, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 8222083b, The address that the exception occurred at

I have been plagued with nothing, but BSOD's tonight on tdrpm251.sys. It was ridiculous. My system couldn't stay on for more than 5 minutes without crashing on that file. Even if I didn't touch it at all. And ATI2010 can't be uninstalled in safe mode so I had to manually delete that file. I don't even have VStudio installed or a USB drive. I uninstalled ATI2010 after deleting that file and now my system is working fine.
I'm requesting a refund tomorrow. This is unacceptable.

I bought the upgrade this afternoon and installed it. No problems at all in XP Pro. I then created the new Rescue Media in ISO format, and then burned a CDR from that file. No problems there. I then decided to test the clone function - (That's all I ever use!) and it worked like the previous versions but nothing new.
The failure to drive my Wacom Graphire wireless mouse continues. The last TI version that worked correctly was 10. Ever since, I have to plug in a separate temporary USB wireless mouse. That sucks!
It was only $29.95, so, I'll just accept it. But is it worth it if you have 11 or 2009? Nope! Caveat emptor!

Interesting, I've tried 2010 and various builds on W7 and XP, but not Vista. Not that this helps with your problem, but I'm aware of a number of programs that don't play nice with SP2 flavour of Vista, or more accurately SP2 doesn't play nice with already installed programs.
Anyone here have Vista or Vista with SP1 with the problem?
I might download Vista with SP2 and have a play.

I deleted tdrpm251.sys last night and ATI2010 has been behaving well since. However, I noticed something strange and it may link to the cause of all my BSOD's.
I have this device in one of my 3.5" bays that has slots of different sizes for different media cards (SD, CF, XD, etc). Normally, each slots show up as individual USB drives in Windows Explorer, but they're not usable when no flash card is in the matching slot. Now that I deleted tdrpm251.sys, I don't see those drives anymore. If I completely uninstall ATI2010, they're back. If I install ATI2010 fresh (i.e. tdrpm251.sys is present), I see the drives, but my system won't stay up for more than 5 mins or so. I delete tdrpm251.sys again and the drives disappear.
Seems to be around the presence of unusable drives created by a multi-flashcard device.

I remember an issue with flash card readers disappearing on a previous version of TI, I wonder if this is related.
I have W7 x64 too, BSOD all the time on tdrpm25.sys. I was lucky enough to have the computer stay on for one time long enough to do an uninstall.
I hope this is fixed soon or I will be seeking a refund.

I ended up having to uninstall ATI2010. With tdrpm251.sys removed, my iPod no longer connects with iTunes. With tdrpm251.sys back, I get constant BSOD's.
With ATI removed, all is back to normal.

that file does not exist on my Pc Marc so I assume it is a TI2010 one?

That's what I just wrote... ATI2010 and the file is in C:\Windows\System32\drivers and I have Win7 64bit.

I am having the same issue, with tdrpm251.sys at C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS. I running ATI2010 Home on Win 7 64 bit ThinkPad. If I disable tdrpm251.sys via services, my usb drives are disable in device manager, If I remove the file completely, my system crashes, If I remove ATI2010, I still get a periodic crash that it is attributed to tdrpm251.sys. I had Symantec ghost but it has been removed. Any suggestions will be welcome.
Thank you
Mario

I am waiting for any news from Acronis that they are working hard on this issue.

Hello all,
I've forwarded this issue to our QA Team. They would try to reproduce it and work with Development to fix it.
Thanks,

It is unclear if this problem is universal. In other words, Are USB drives disabled for everyone that uses ATI 2010? If so this is a serious problem that WILL keep me from purchasing the product (which I was just about to do).

I had the same issue of my machine suddenly Blue Screening when attaching my TomTom (Windows 7 x64 Ultimate).
I performed a debug of the memory dump, and it pointed at tdrpm251.sys, the Acronis Try & Decide filter driver. The really annoying thing is, I have Try & Decide disabled, yet clearly the filter driver is always loaded :-(
Anyway, I managed to remove the driver and keep access to my USB/memory card readers. The process is
1) remove the filter driver registry entry (using SC DELETE at the CMD prompt is the "polite" way to do this)
2) search the registry for the references to the filter driver, and remove them (not the whole values, just the specific entries for the driver).
It was registered as a High filter and a Low filter for two events relating to removable drives on my machine (interestingly, it was listed twice in one of the MULTI_SZ entries: first and last entry).
Having rebooted, I no longer have the Try & Decide filter driver loaded, I still have access to my USB/memory cards, and my main system drive still gets imaged every 8pm :-)
Windows doesn't like having references to filter drivers that it can't load, which is probably causing the issues people are having when just removing the driver file or the driver entry: you need to clean all references to it.

I had BSOD problem when I installed 2010 on my XP pro system , problems with the Maxtor OneTouch Manager MXOPSWD.Exe.
System freezes and BSOD with MXOPSWD.EXE. Uninstalled the new 2010 and reinstalled old version 11, no problems.

According to Acronis support, these problems can be fixed by installing a new SnapAPI driver. Have any of you tried this and did it work? The driver can be downloaded at:

When you buy an Acronis product, it means you could use their current pre-alpha version if you are lucky.
Or, you will have to join their QA team and help debugging the product. Contact supports several times, send crash dump several times, and finally when the product become usable, they will release next pre-alpha version to the market.

I assume I'm not the only person Acronis has advised on this matter so has anyone updated the SnapAPI driver and did it fix the issue?

i agree... they've dicked us 4 quite a long time
says i joined this conf sept this year but i've been with acronis from the beginning maybe they are trying 2 start fresh (again) so new users dont see the zillions of people bitchin about being ignored, errors, no real updates, etc.
Acronis people really do get tired of this crap, u had a nice product acronis ti 7 by the time we got 2 ti 8 the ignoring started and now look what u have. man unsatisfied users or users who will never buy from u again.
its really sad

I had played that game before and it didn't work on the TI2009. Barking up the wrong tree to play it on this build as well. Unless they want to pay me to beta test their stuff. I quit troubleshooting for them.

I am having the same problem too. BSOD when inserting USB drive about 30% of time. I could not use Acronis True Image Home 2009 for this reason. I uninstalled it. Upgraded to ATI Home 2010 assuming this issue would be fixed - since it's a known issue. It's not. So I am uninstalling and hoping for a fix. Just upgraded a few days ago.
I am very disappointed.

This is the same problem I am having on Windows 7 64. And the New SnapAPI drivers do not fix this problem. I am still waiting for a call from Acronis after 3 weeks.
I guess this is the last time I will waste my money on any acronis products.

Same issue here. Installed ATI 2010 on Sunday (10/4/09) and last night it BSSOD'd on TDRPM251.sys and wouldn't restart Windows. I had to restore to a Pre-ATI2010 version of my system and now all OK. I have reverted to ATI v11 and things seem stable. I am at Windows Vista Home Premium sp2.
I have never EVER had installed 3rd party software blue screen my PC... EVER! What's up Acronis? Are all your customers now Beta testers? I'm out $30 and feeling kind of pissed. This type of performance from a product that is supposed to PROTECT me from catastrophic system failures is completely unacceptable.

Add me to this - about 50% of the time on SD insertion I get a BSOD. To note, the SD reader is part of my laptop and non-removable (plus I use it everyday).
I have the latest released build 5,055. Supposedly this is fixed for Backup & Recovery users by installing a new SnapAPI driver (and or the newest build). However that was actually some time ago and quite a bit older than ATI 2010, thus I'm hesitant to install SnapAPI.
BTW - this is pretty insidious. I would have had no idea ATI was the issue unless I happened upon it in a Google search (and that was a real piece of luck). I know Acronis won't like this idea, but I suggest they notify their end users lest they think something is intrinsically wrong with their PCs.
Acronis has a very good reputation, but something like this can go a long way toward changing that.
Acronis, please provide a fix.
Thanks.

Well my new strategy is to not install ATI 2010 and only use the boot disk to image my drive. It works great. Just kidding.... I have installed Windows 7 64 bit RTM and will not install Acronis until they fix this problem. I am using the boot disk as I stated above but this defeats the whole purpose of not having to worry if my system is being backed up.
On a side note does anyone know if Acronis Products use "I/O prioritization"?

I been having with the same problem since I installed 2010, however this only happens with my Laptop running Windows 7 64 RTM, it does not happen on Win XP. It started with TDRPM250.SYS and it continues with TDRPM251.SYS.
When I read the posts related with this issue, I removed all Symantec related software, this did not solved the issue, I did a fresh install and after a couple of days it started again.
In my case I get BSOD twice or 3 times and then I am fine for a couple of days and then again.
I really think that 2010 is the best of its kind out there, but this issue does not make a reliable software, I hope they fix this issue soon before it gets a bad rap.

I wish they would get this fixed, it's been almost a month now...

Just to add to the noise....
Same issue with 2009 and 2010. Plug in a flash drive and splat! BSOD. In my case it only seems to happen (or happens more frequently) if the machine has been allowed to sleep and wake before plugging the flash drive. My machine is an x58 EVGA deskside, so I can disable sleep, but this surely makes it _really_ tough for laptop users w/built in card readers.
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 RTM.
This is a total show-stopper. I'm not interested in disabling sleep and _hoping_ that it doesn't happen again.
[edit] Should also mention that my BSOD bugcheck was: 0x0000003b "SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION" not the "IRQ_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" reported in some threads.

I have resolved the BSOD issue I was having.
Like others I was not able to run 2009 build 9709 or the 2010 version without a BSOD as soon as I plugged in a USB flashdisk.
I am happy to report that now that I am running Windows 7 64 bit Professional I am no longer having this issue. I am running exactly the same hardware I was when I was running Vista 32bit SP2.
Windows 7 has detected my printer and scanner and I have installed all the same softwares I was running previously.
It's quite clear that there are a variety of factors involved with this issue but for me the issue must have been related to Vista SP2 and that's been resolved by the installation of W7 64bit.
I can only hope that others have similar success soon.

Same problem here with ATI 2010. Using Win7 32-bit RTM. 70% BSOD on inserting flash drive. Very disappointing. It took me 3 days to figure out what the cause was. Well done, Acronis.

Wow. I just installed 2010 build 5.055. I was having some issues with 2009 so I uninstalled 2009 completely and installed 2010 5.500.
No issues with blue screening when inserting a flash drive.
Have you installed the latest drivers for your motherboard maybe the latest BIOS upgrade?
I am using Vista Ultimate SP 2 on a pretty new ASUS motherboard.

Build 5055 has a known problem with USB drives and USB card readers. Acronis has acknowledged it in several threads already. You may not be having problems, but others do and Acronis acknowledged it.

I do have the latest BIOS and MB drivers for my Asus Rampage II Extreme (Intel X58 Chipset). Running on Win7 RTM, ATI 2010 crashes my system like hell!
And by the way, why the hell is this USB issue there in the first place? WHAT does ATI has to do with USB drives?
- Anmelden, um Kommentare verfassen zu können
The USB is an issue because we can backup to USB Hard Drives. The question is why the USB thumb/flash drives for me. Do the USB flash drives use different drivers than the USB Hard Drives?

TomTinsley wrote:The USB is an issue because we can backup to USB Hard Drives...
So what? Why not accessing USB flash drives using Windows native drivers?
BTW, the USB Hard Drive worked for me absolutely fine without crashes. But 2 of my 3 usb flash drives crashed with BSOD most of the time.
- Anmelden, um Kommentare verfassen zu können
Depending on how the flash drive's manufacturer has programmed it, some drives report themselves differently to the OS. To futher complicate the matter, some will use Windows Mass Storage drivers, others HID and some will provide their own.
Some flash drives will allow themselves to be 'ejected' and others will not, after they have been accessed.
This post is just to point out that not all flash drives are equal and might account for why some work OK with TI 2010 and others don't.
- Anmelden, um Kommentare verfassen zu können
But in my case, I don't have a flash drive. I have a multi-mediacard reader that has 4 slots for different types of flash cards. I don't even have any cards inserted. If the reader is just plugged in, ATI will blue screen my machine.
