NSB: How to exclude folder

Using NSB2011, I am backing up a 250GB partition to a 320GB harddrive.
It's been running fine until now. I want to now exclude a folder from the backup, but when I go to the backup settings, it tells me that there is not enough free space on the backup drive and the save button is disabled.
Of course, there is not enough free space to backup the entire drive a second time, but that's not what I am trying to do.
