Online Backup doesn't work after updating ATIH 2011 to build #6942
Last week I updated my ATIH 2011 to build #6942. Since then, Online Backup window pops up, but the backup never starts. I have to stop the Acronis scheduler service in order to shut down my computer.
Any idea?

Bo;
Hopefully you've solved your problem by now. If not, maybe this will help.
I've had similar problems with ATIH 2011 build 6942 and the integral Online Backup build 4158. My online backups appeared to start, calculated and appeared to upload, but no files were transferred. Then, after about 45 min, the connection was terminated by the remote host, and I received a SSL_Write error.
I was able to backup fine all summer, but after I upgraded to this version, about 2 weeks after it was released at the end of Sept, I no longer had successful backups. I thought it was Acronis and did all the usual; uninstall ATIH, downgrade to prior version, install stand-alone online backup, and delete/renew the security certificates.
What I found, with much research (the log file messages, Acronis support, and this forum have been little help), is that I contracted about the same time a rootkit TCP/IP virus. I had slow response from Firefox as my only indication until I discovered and removed the malware using "Combofix by sUBs". However, this tool only partially repaired my TCP/IP stack --- I was able to use the internet, but unable to pass SSL encrypted data.
To fix the SSL, I found a free tool on CNET called "XP TCPIP Repair - xptcprep" and using only the TCP/IP fix option on the tool (and not the Winsock LSP option), my Acronis online backup is again working properly. This tool makes significant registry changes and reports the changes to you after the repair in a text file. I'd suggest creating a restore point or backing up the registry prior to running the tool.
I hope this helps save a lot of frustration for you or others with similar symptoms.
