Online Backup Problem after reinstall of ATIH2012

Thread needs solution

In order to switch from a singhle to a "Family Pack" licence, I had to uninstall a working (activated) version of ATIH2012 and reinstall and activate it with a new serial number.

After reinstall it did seem to find my part completed existing online backup and I tried pressing the "Continue backup here" button so as to resume it and complete the backup (which was of a substantial size and had been running for several days). Nothing happened. The view log contained the following error message:

"An error has occurred while checking for updates.

I then tried to check the backup by going to "Acronis online storage" for my account. The backup was shown there but when I clicked on it to check what was there I got the following error message:

"Storage Server is not available
Sorry, the Storage Server is not available now. Please try again later"

I then clicked on the "Online Backup" icon at the top of the ATIH2012 screen. This opened a window with "Configure online backup process" and showed my part-completed backup with around 45GB completed out of a 50GB total. At the bottom of this screen was a warning message against the name of this online backup saying "An online backup with this name already exists" and this seemed to disable the key "Backup Now" which was greyed out.

I left it overnight to see if the "Server unavailable" message changed but it didn't. I then tried running a smaller online backup with a new name and this did work.

I am really keen to complete my large backup and obviously need to be able to access it from the online storage location. I don't really want to lose the days of uploading already carried out. All these problems started when I accessed the service from the reinstall and so I believe this must have something to do with it.

Please can anyone help?

I have just thought of a possible explanation for this and would welcome comments.

When I uninstalled and then reinstalled ATIH2012 with the new (Family Pack) serial number and then activated it, maybe the online back up location saw the PC as being a different computer instead of realising it was the same one that had started the online backup that was part completed on the server. This would explain why I cannot get any response to the "Continue backup here" command but can start a completely new backup with a different name.

However, I'm not sure this would explain why I cannot access the old, part completed backup to recover any files from it? Does Acronis online backup only let you recover files from the PC that (it thinks) was originally used to create the backup? That would seem a bit daft cos you would really want to be able to recover backed up material to another PC if the original one packled up wouldn't you?
