Opening Zip Files

Thread needs solution

I spent an hour and a half downloading a Zip file to restore my disk; then Windows 7 reported it couldn't recognize the file and the file fanished. What did I do wrong?

What was this ZIP file containing? How was it produced? Where was it stored?

A standard zip file should behave as any standard file under ntfs. Processing it requires some zip software, some of which is built into win or you can get it form other sources both free or for pay (Winzip, e.g.)

It sounds like your zip might be corrupted or at least the copy procedure did not complete correctly. I'd try antoher zip handler to see if it can recognize the original zip file, and if so, then try again copying it if necessary.
