Option 'backup password' applied

Thread needs solution

Can anyone please tell me what

"Option 'backup password' applied"

in a partition backup log means?

I have some backups that seem to have occurred without this option being reported but I can find no place where to specify this nor do I even know if this pertains to a password for a backup or if a password of some sort (Windows??) is being backed up. I am not password protecting my archives.

I have not found any reference to this "option" here or online.

Thanks.

If possible, try to capture a screen capture. Ths is new to me, anyway.

Thank you for posting an extract from your log file. Upon further checking I find I have the same comment in one of my logs.

I don't know for sure but what I believe it be an info message which was posted because.

When I first created my early backups, I set certain parameters which included a backup password and then I clicked to save all my settings as my "default settings". Thereafter, each task that I create will include the default settings including the passwrod. When creating a new task, if I ignore the password and allow the default password be included, then your info message appears in the log file which I assume is to remind me that all backup files created by that task will require the default password to be used to open the backup file.

As I had not seen this message before, I assume the message is an addition to 2014.

I have never specified a password for any file backup done with True Image (except, perhaps inadvertently, at some point?). I have also tried resetting everything back to defaults and making that my default, with no success. I also don't need a password to get an any of my backups (view or restore). Whatever this means, or however it was created, hasn't gotten in my way so far, but of course that won't happen until it is inconvenient. ;-) Thanks for looking into it.

1. When you log into your computer, which do you use
Blank password
or a specific password

2. When creating a backup task, do you use password option?

Hi GroverH.

I use a password when logging in to my computer, and to my NAS but not for my TI backups. I only got this error message once, this time, buried among a spate of other errors and problems (which you have already seen).

I had this problem for a while, then I didn't and now I had one of them occur again. There's been no further evidence of this problem after the one incident.

Curious.
