Partition Differences

Thread needs solution

I am using windows 7 and the latest build of Acronis Home 2011. When I start up AC it lists all the backups I have made. If I select Operations>Edit settings or Operations recreate backup settings, Acronis reports on the drives or partitions in that backup. At least I presume that is correct. However, if I use windows explorer to mount the backup, the backup may show backup of C:, D:, E:, etc., whereas the operations> list shows only C: and or D:. Why the difference?

There is a good chance the disk not listed is an unlettered drive used as a boot partition. Windows does not show unlettered drives but if you do a backup of your entire disk, the unlettered partition is part of the backup and will be displayed as being in the backup but not displayed by Windows. This unlettered partition is an important part of the backup if you need to recreate a duplicate or replacement disk.

Most likely Acronis is assigning the letter E: to the System Reserved partition that you don't see in My Computer.
In my case, I have 2 partitions C: and D: in my backup when I double click the TIB files, D: being that hidden partition.
