People are waiting for me, I need a fast answer...
- Hello Folks!
- I'm all new to this with TrueImage14 and actually bought it just a minute ago, mainly because old Ghost doesn't support USB3. I also bought a few copies for my friends too, telling them how neat this TrueImage was. Before me I had this vision how easy it's gonna be in the future for me to keep those screw ups pc's neat and tidy.
Connect the USB, reboot, do you stuff, and you're done. :D
But when I read the True Image help-section I got stiff. So, this Q wonders up on what TI14 coniders to be, quoted from the manual "If you use non-optical media, the media must have a FAT file system".
Any SATA connected SSD or regurlar NTFS hard drive will always work...
Any SATA connected optical drive will work fine...
Any USB flash drive will work, as long FAT16 or FAT32 is used.
...but, an USB3 connected SSD NTFS-formatted drive, in one of those new, chep single cord slim casings (perhaps even in pink)?
-Will THAT configuration boot even though the FAT32 Flash drive didn't?
Thanks in advance for an answer (sorry for all the so called "Swenglish", I'm from Sweden

Haha. Yes, I realized I was a little vague about the problem. My problem concerns nothing but the creation of the bootable rescue media.
- When creating the bootable media from within TrueImage, the documentetion states this;
Any SATA connected SSD or regurlar NTFS hard drive will do as media...
Any SATA connected optical drive will do fine as media...
Any USB flash drive will do as long FAT16 or FAT32 is used.
All three of the above works great for me. They boot damn well too. I make backups, I make recoverys with the media above.
However...
Lets say you have a spare 2.5 NTFS SSD and you decide to use it for some back up purpouses and put it into one of those new cool USB 3 enclosures. You know, those providing the needed power of the SSD via the USB 3 contact. It works damn well (not to mention damn fast too) when using it either for backup or recovery.
But it would be soo neat to use this item, and only this item, for all operations. You boot from it, make the backup. Done. Or you boot from it, recover an previously made backup. Done.
But it doesn't work.
It wont work even if I make a small 400MB large FAT16/32 partition and try to let True Image make a boot sector there. I was thinking I could have the rest partition in NTFS for keeping backups. But nope! It wont work even if I let FAT16/32 occupie the entire drive. It would still not show when I want to create a bootable rescue media. That's so odd!
Any helpful hints?
(and yes, Swedes ARE known to be somewhat vague occassionally) :D

I see, not sure this will work but am attaching the Windows 7 USB DVD Tool file here. It can be used with any ISO file to make a bootable USB device or so they claim. I used it to make a USB boot drive for the Bootable Media Disk, was very quick and easy. Might work for you as well. After creation if it does work you might be able to then create a second partition for other use.
Post back results.
