Please help - acronis cloning resulted in a wrong image - primary partition disapeared

Thread needs solution

Guys please help

I wanted to restore my Vista to dell factory condition. Before I started a dell recovery procedure I have prepared an acronis image of my hdd - cloning option to external drive ("as is" option).

Unfortunately I did not check the image afterwards (I have only checked acronis report from clonning which said it was "successful, ok") and started dell restore. Dell restore failed so I wanted to turn back to the original state - before dell restore procedure. With Acronis TI I have restored the clone from external drive into my laptop hdd. After restore my primary Vista partition is missing. I see only dell recovery partition. In Partition Magic the Vista partition displays as unallocated.

I tried fixing the problem with TestDisk. It found logical partition (but with wrong capacity parameters) which I marked as primary. However the system did not boot up. I tried to restore BCD then with Vista recovery cd but did not succeed. What can I do now?

Appreciate your help

Regards

Wojtor
