Please include your True image build number in posts.

Thread needs solution

Now that the second build is out, it would be helpful if the build numbers being referred to were posted, so that everyone can see if it is a new build problem or one carried over from the previous build.

Thanks

This is interesting. Acronis released TI 2015 Build 6525 just today. The About page no longer shows a build number. It did in previous builds.

You can get the build number by looking at the properties of TrueImage.exe found at C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome. The last 4 digits of the version number is the build number.

The build number also appears under the "Account" option in the menu along the left side of the program screen.

In ATI 2015 Build 6525 unter "Konto", findet man die Build-NR.

In ATI 2015 Build 6525 under "Account" you can find the Build-NR.

https://kb.acronis.com/content/48668

(!) After using Cleanup Utility, it is strongly recommended not to reboot the machine, go to Start -> Run -> regedit, and verify that there are no snapman*, fltsrv, tdrpman*, vidsflt*, timounter strings in the following keys:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{71A27CDD-812A-11D0-BEC7-08002BE2092F} -> UpperFilters and LowerFilters
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class\{533C5B84-EC70-11D2-9505-00C04F79DEAF}

Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet002\Control\Class\{533C5B84-EC70-11D2-9505-00C04F79DEAF}

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am using Acronis True Image 2015, build 6525. My problem is that one of my external hard drives (3Tb) is not recognized in True Image 2015 booted from my CD. This is the drive that contains lots of backup images. So, I can't backup my systems disk.
If I use Tru Image 2014, it works just fine.

I have downloaded and registered ATI 2015 UNLIMITED and also registered for a trial of Cloud. But the BackUp is always interrupted by Trial has expiereded!?!? The only choice I get is to buy Cloud !?!? I like to test the software as soon as possible.

On Acronis Website You can find following offer.:
Get 40% OFF! Acronis True Image Unlimited for PC and MAC!
Is "Unlimited" standing for unlimited Cloud? (Included i ATI 2015?

Goran,

I think you need to open up a support request via your Acronis account page. I'll alert Acronis to your problem.

Hello:
I recently bought a new Acronis 2015 for 1 PC. However I cannot seem to enter the serial number to register the product. I have checked and rechecked and the serial number appears to be correct. Is there something else I am doing wrong? I put in the "-" in the correct places, the numbers are accurate and I am not sure where to go from here because I would like to register it. I am running Windows 7 Professional for an operating system. Thanks for any input you may have!

Sincerely, Cat Sullivan

Cat,

Are you referring to registering the serial number to your Acronis account, or when installing the program itself?

If you are referring to the program, what error message if any do you get, and what happens if you try to use that serial number to register the product on your Acronis account page?

Same here, 2TB Western Digital USB3 external hard drive cannot be seen by ATI 2015, build 6525. I did a fresh install, Windows recognises the external hard drive, so do all my other applications. Prior to formatting, ATI WAS recognising it at Recovery time, showed all backups... now nothing.

This hard drive didn't come with a CD or any install disc... all the instructions said was to plug it in and let Windows detect it.

Downgrading to 2014 after paying for 2015, I dunno....

Schade!

I managed to fix it, but not sure if it will work for everyone. I had to reset cluster sizes to 512b, some were 4K.

Yes, TI does not recognise 4K cluster sizes.

So why aren't other people giving it a go... BEFORE they bust their humps making PE disks?

Colin B wrote:

Do you mean native 4k sector sizes? 4k is the default cluster size used by Windows 7 on all NTFS partitions up to 16TB in size. So most drives will have 4k cluster sizes. Disk Director is the only Acronis program that I can find any documentation stating that there are issues with native 4k sector drives.

@marzametal
Most users already have too much data on their drives to try the reformatting to 512 clusters sizes or to risk data loss on a conversion with a third party tool. It would certainly be worth a try with a new empty drive. The WinPE creation process has been simplified in the 2015 version so there is a lot less hump busting. Personally I prefer the WinPE because lots of other useful tools can be added to the rescue media.

I think your issue was mostly related to a bad format. In my experience 2014 and up rescue media have issues recognizing some drives that were only factory formatted and subsequently quick formatted in Windows. Using True Image's "Add New Disk" operation to format the drive resolved the issue for me on the affected drives.

All of my HDDs use the default 4k cluster sizes. The only disk I have that isn't detected by the latest 2015 Linux based rescue media is a USB 3.0 3TB Seagate Backup Plus drive that has native 4k sectors (4kn). It is however detected by the 2013(builds 5551 and 6528), 2014, and 2015 build 5539 Linux based rescue media so it isn't a limitation in Acronis. Some storage drivers were just left out of the Linux kernel when it was compiled with the True Image plugin.

Sorry Joey, yes I did mean sector size.

The support page sends no email to acronis manufacturer. Unnecessary security and double registration then leads to the build number problem. I have used windows recovery mode to remove acronis. Need I reinstall to get a build number. This is the worst software installation process I have ever experienced! Very frustrated. Is there no way to contact acronis by telephone? Am afraid the software itself is this convoluted. If I need to use back up, I have little trust in these people if I lose all my data!

Thanks

Just purchased TI 2015 upgrade yesterday. I cannot find a build number. Note that I do NOT keep Acronis installed on my PC. I buy the product, make an ISO and a boot CD, then only use the product by booting directly into Acronis.

No build number anywhere on the CD or the downloaded files. No build number show withing the software while using.

FortyNiner,

If you purchased a Cd from a shop, it won't be the latest build released yesterday I think. If you go to your Acronis account the latest build will be available for download.

I don't have 2015 set up at the moment, so from memory to find the build number in TI itself, click on Help in the left side selection and from the page that opens up select About. Otherwise you could just right click on the TI exe file, select Properties and then click on the Details tab (Vista OSs onwards).

I attempted to update from Acronis Seagate DiskWizard; and was sent to the Acronis True Image update; but cannot use the product because I have an update serial key; and no previous serial key to update from; because Seagate DiskWizard do not require a serial key for use. What do I do?

Acronis is nothing but a piece of crap. You can't get anyone one to help you ~ unless you have some magic "build number" which is hidden in some mysterious place on their crappy software. I tried more than 5 freaking times with 3 emails and postings here trying to get information and they refused to answer me. and yes, I was polite up until the last email, which contained *no* swear words or name calling ~ but I WAS obviously frustrated. I mean if you pay $50 for something you should expect to be able to use it and anyone would be mad, right? Then they are so damn cheap they won't even pay anyone and they expect "volunteers" to help. Well bless these volunteer's hearts, but they should be PAID, not duped into being a firewall for Acronis paid employees who made the thing and are the ones responsible for making such a shoddy product, IMO.

My suggestion is file a compliant with your state's Attorney General who has a consumer's department to handle complaints from obviously fraudulent companies who seem to think they can just steal people's money for their fake "products" and not have to do anything to actually make them work properly. This is what Acronis did to me and let me tell you as a former IT person myself, I will tell everyone I know what a bad product they have, since I have not been given ONE single bit of relief for their problematic software ~ no offer to replace, no assistance as to how to fix it, no place to call or even anyplace to chat with anyone, zero, nothing, nada! My advice is to go back to Norton's PQ Majic or Clonzilla (FREE and lots more help than here which should tell you something), at least they have people who will help you with their product without jumping through so many hoops~

My 2 cents,

Thomas

To my knowledge you need to have the Seagate Disk Wizard installed in order to use the True Image upgrade version. Failing that, contact support who can advise on the way forward.
