"Prevent computer from sleeping..." checkbox clears itself after rebooting

Thread needs solution

I've got ATI 2011 6868 running on Win7 SP1 32-bit. I've configured a backup to start at 3AM, and make sure the "Prevent computer from sleeping..." checkbox is set in the "Advanced" scheduling options, since the PC will be asleep (using stock "Balanced" power mgmt settings).

Everything works fine until I reboot the PC. After it restarts, that checkbox is now reset to off, and if I forget to turn it back on, the PC wakes up at 2:59, then goes back to sleep at 3:01. The next morning the backup is still trying to run when I wake up the PC, so it did get started at 3AM but without that checkbox checked, the PC goes back to sleep.

I've tried a few things:
Delete the schedule, run schedmgr and "task zap", and recreate schedule - didn't help.
Set priority of backup task to "Normal" - didn't help.

Prior to 6868, I had to leave my PC on all night because even with that checkbox checked, the PC would go back to sleep.

Any suggestions?

I know it's sort of cheesy but there is a program called stayawake. you can specify how many minutes you want to prevent your system from going into sleep state. you can call it from a script file and specify the script to be called prior to running the backup

@dev-anon, Thanks!

You'd think "prevent sleep" in the search box would turn up "ATIH 2011 w/ Plus Pack - prevent computer from sleeping setting not sticking after reboot". Lazy search, I guess.

Has anyone been able to validate if this is working correctly in ATIH2012?

That's interesting because I was finally able to get a key for the trial version and it has been waking my PC up at the correct time for the last three nights in a row and that is even with a reboot between a couple of the instances. I'm on a quest for a good deal on the full version and then I'll buy.

Hi all,

Problem solved with new update. But need to download and install as 'repair'. Can't take credit. Here is the original post:

Thanks - I applied the update a few days ago and it worked for me without requiring the "repair" option - but I don't have the "Plus Pack", maybe that makes a difference.
