Problem creating Image Backup
I am using Acrons True Image 9 to create a backup of my C: Drive (XP Pro) to a physically separate D: drive on my desktop PC. The process seems to to run OK but then terminates and reports an error as follows : Error 1 502 (0x101F6) Operation with partition "0-0" was terminated.|Details:| Image corrupted (0x70020)
Error 100 5 (0x640005) Operation has completed with errors.
Pending operation 3 started : "Verifying backup archive"
I have attached a GIF screenshot showing the process and error report.
I would really appreciate any help with this problem, since it is stopping me from creating a backup.
Thanks

You might want to validate the backup using your restore disk-- i have restored a .tib with the same error the error is with the validation not being able to read the drive for some reason-- not the tib file. try reformatting your drive then try the backup again. Restore disk will tell you alot.
hope this helps

Hello Bill,
Thank you for using Acronis Products
See the following step-by-step troubleshooting concerning corrupted backup archives.

Thank you for your replies - they are appreciated.
bodgy and Dmitry : I ran a complete memory test using a 'memtest' boot disk and also ran chkdsk. In both cases, no errors were reported. I then tried running another backup with the validation disabled but was unable to create a new backup, because another error is now being reported - ' E00640068 : Failed to create the scheduled task' : Error #1722 - The RPC server is unavailable".
Having done a search, it was suggested that the RPC server may not have been set to start automatically, however checking in the 'services' list, both RPC entries are set to Automatic. Also DCOM is set to Automatic
Mike Daily : reformatting my drive kind of defeats the object of making an image of my drive in its current state...............

Bill,
Do you have any Nortons/Symantec products running on your PC?

Thanks for your response.........
No! - Wouldn't have any of these resource hogs near my PCs !!
I use AVG and Ad-Aware and have never had any problems with them.

Just checking, Symantec products can cause many problems.
There was a simlar problem reported either just after this board came into being or just before on the Wilders forum. I can't recall if this was resolved, but I do recall acronis provided an answer (I think).

I'm running True Image 8 and did not have any problems until my external drive failed. I replaced it and now, I any attempts to do a backup fails with 0X101F6 (Code 33). I did a chkdsk and there are no problems. I know my version is old (as is my OS), but I rarely had any issues prior to replacing my external disk. I did send an email to Acronis (hoping for some sort of help). I do run Norton Antivirus and Firewall. Any ideas, suggestions?

Richard,
Does TI 8 work if you try a manual task?
I think your problem may relate to the fact the new drive will have a different serial number and Windows will have assigned it a new internal ID. This will mean that your TI task will not be able to find the drive anymore as the drive ID number is embedded into the task script.
Try making a new task.
As a last resort re-installing TI 8 might be the answer.

Colin,
I turned off Norton AV and that allowed the backup to work. My only question is, is there a patch to allow Norton AV and TI 8 to coexist.

There won't be any patches for TI 8, its too old and no longer actively updated. Can you tell Norton AV to allow the Trueimage executable to run?

Should it be so easy. From what I've seen Googling around, it seems that the conflict lies somewhere in the Windows registry and how it's used. Frankly, I think it's just a way for these S/W vendors to force the users into buying their suite of products. They don't want to give users the power to choose the best of breed. Why else would Acronis offer their own antivirus?
