Problems Cloning PC System

Thread needs solution

Hi
Please could someone help with this problem?
Until recently, I have been able, regularily, to clone my complete system.
I've now bought a new h/drive and am having trouble with the cloning. The procedure seems to proceed OK but after the re-boot required near the end of the settings, the cloning finishes in about 1 minute and I get a message something like 'Cloning system completed satisfactorily'. But obviously a full 500gb h/drive cannnot be cloned in such a short time. If I use 'automatic' Clone Mode, it skips most of the steps in the procedure and I thus have to use 'manual' Clone Mode to be able to select 'Source Hard Disk' and 'Destination Hard Disk'. In addition, some of the steps still seem to be missed out, like 'Nonempty Destination Hard Disk'.
What could I be doing wrong? Thanks.
Ray

What build and version of True Image are you using? Try using the bootable Rescue CD to do the cloning.

 Hello all,

Thank you for posting your question, I will be happy to help.
Raymond,

Please temporarily detach any USB storage device that is plugged in. Perform the cloning or restore with the USB storage device detached.

If you have an inbuilt card reader, then disable it through Windows Device Manager:

  1. Hit Win-R to get to the command prompt;
  2. Type in devmgmt.msc and hit Enter;
  3. In the Device Manager window locate your card reader (it probably starts with letters SD, MMC etc);
  4. Right-click on the card reader and select Disable.

Also, as a workaround, you can try performing the same operation from Acronis Bootable Rescue Media (the possibility mentioned by DwnNDrty).

Please let us know the results, we should be sure that the program runs flawlessly. If the provided information is not clear or if you have any other question do not hesitate to post them and we will be glad to answer.
Thank you.
