problems restoring

Thread needs solution

I made a backup image of my C drive and put it in my D drive which is the same hard drive. I created a bootable CD which doesn’t work. So I put in my installation disk and choose the Safe version because the Full one doesn't work. I chose the Image from the D drive but I can't restore it back to my C drive. What am I doing wrong because that is what a backup is for, restoring a crash OS.

The restore CD is Linux operating system. It may show the drive letters differently than windows.

When attempting to restore, match the disk or partition description or used size or something else which will enable you to choose what you know as the normal drive C. Do not use the drive letters assigned by Linus as the guide.

if you can boot to your system, then right click on Drive C and choose properties. If it does not have a name, assign a name using 8 characters. such as
Win7-C
XP-C

Do the same for drive D
such as Data-D

This will help you to identify the correct partition when restoring.
