Problems with TI build 6673 and Windows 8.1 Update 1 - What changed in build 6688?

Thread needs solution

I gave up on TI on a machine with Windows 8.1 Update 1. The system would take many seconds to repaint the desktop when booting. Is there a change log or something available that indicates what has been updated from Build 6673 to the latest Build 6688? Hopefully in the last 3 or 4 months either MSFT or Acronis has fixed the problem I was having.

Never mind, it got worse with the latest build. Build 6673 just caused the desktop Icons to go blank after a few seconds when booting and then wait for ~10 seconds for them to repaint. Build 6688 has the same Icon issue but adds another feature - the system won't Shutdown it just automatically Restarts! I'll try installing on a different W8.1 Update 1 system and see if anything changes! Maybe Acronis just don't like my ASRock OC Formula/3770K system?

See this thread for all the stuff I tried several months ago.

I cannot believe I am the only one in the Acronis universe with the Icon repaint problem! I just installed TI build 6673 on an old GA-EP45-UD3P/Q9550 system with W8.1 Update 1 and it has the same problem as the machine above. Both systems are set up for Auto Logon. If I turn Auto Logon off the problem either goes away or enough time goes by logging in manually to let Acronis TI do whatever it has to do to stay away from the Icon repaint issue. I'm sure I can not be the only person using Auto Logon! As I said in the other thread, I did not have the problem with W8 or W8.1. W8.1 Update 1 brought it on. I'm 0 for 2, you would think someone at Acronis would take notice?

Thanks for the information. I keep hoping Acronis will fix the "Boot/Auto Logon/Icon Repaint Desktop" problem that I have on at least two machines. TI 2015 beta did not/has not fixed it either.

Before I move on to a different PC Backup program, has anybody else experienced the Icon repaint problem with TI 2014 and 2015 when using W8.1 on a desktop PC with a Microsoft Account using Auto Login? I now have three W8.1 systems with the same TI issue. The only thing all three have in common is W8.1, Auto Login and the same Microsoft Account.

I do not use the Microsoft auto login on Win 8.1 but I think your problem has more to do with that feature and Win 8.1 update 1 than it does with True Image. I noticed that you made a number of posts over at eightforums on this issue with very limited results. Have you tried restoring your machine to prior Win 8.1 update 1 and then reinstalling update 1? It seems that is what triggered your issue to start with so it seems logical that that is a good place to start troubleshooting.
