Program crashes in a minute after opening it

Thread needs solution

I have started experiencing a program crash recently, on 2 different laptops running the same version of ACRONIS True Image 2013. They have been operating fine for many months.
After I start the program it crashes very soon after the start up. Like in a minute. The same for both computers too. I don't have to touch anything either for it to happen. The crash info is shown below.
Problem signature:
Problem Event Name: APPCRASH

Application Timestamp: 50354ef2
Fault Module Name: ti_managers.dll

The only thing that might have changed on these 2 computers is that Windows 7 has probably installed updates as well as my Vipre Antivirus program. I have disabled my antivirus and the program still crashes.

Any Ideas what I should try next?

Has anybody else experienced this lately as well?

Thanks,

*Dave

Before attempting any other solutions, try the fix (http://forum.acronis.com/forum/35064?page=1#comment-122863) for COM Surrogate / Explorer issues discussed in this post. Although the fix address a different symptom than yours, it could still be a working fix if the problems are related.

Try this first, then report back. There are other steps to take to try and resolve your problem.

The location of the file noted in the referenced post is for 64 bit systems

C:\Program Files (x86)\Acronis\TrueImageHome

If you are running a 32 bit version, the file location should be here:

C:\Program Files\Acronis\TrueImageHome

I am running the x86 version but my WIndows 7 Pro boxes are both 64bit systems.
I replaced the dll and the program still crashes after a minute.
Here is the crash dump;

I didn't shut down any services or reboot, I just copied the replacement dll into the program directory and started up the 2013 program. Waited a bit, and crash.

Thanks,

~Dave

I tried another thing. I stopped all the ACRONIS services. Started up the program and in like 1 minute it crashed again.

Now for the next step.

Open the 2013 installer executable that you used to install 2013 on these systems, and perform a "Repair" installation.

Let us know the results.

I did the REPAIR re-installation, no workie...

I went so far as to uninstall the 2013 product and re-install my 2012 product. Same result. CRASH.
I disabled my anti-virus and my anti-spyware products and still it crashes.

I've shut down everything I can and it still crashes in about a minute after strating it. ?/ :(

I'd be willing to presume that this is some weird "MY computer" problem except that I have another PC that does the exact thing.

Search for and manually delete the ti_managers.dll.

Run a repair install of 201x using run as admin option. reboot see fi problem still exists.
