Purchased CD True Image 2014 Serial Number (from inside the CD Case) Does Not Install

It is obvious from reading search engine and forum history there are many issues with getting this product installed. I have spent about 30 minutes searching for a straightforward answer to my issue, but can't seem to find one. I purchased the product and received an OEM CD case and CD with it. It will not install.

The CD case, inside cover, contains the inexplicably long "Acronis True Image 2014 Serial Code." The enclosed instructions direct that you type this code into the appropriate box during installation. The instructions are silent on whether the code is case or blank space sensitive. This is a DEFICIENCY in the product.

When I type in the code, and I have done this MANY times now with various permutations of case and spacing, I get an error message telling me that the code is incorrect. NO MATTER what other action I take on that installation screen (clicking or not clicking check boxes or clicking links) I cannot get off this screen. I have NOT AS OF YET clicked on the link to get a trial installation or "pay for full version" as I have already done so. Since I cannot get off the screen, I cannot install.

I was successful in establishing an account with Acronis, which requires the first sixteen ANs of the inexplicably long activation code, so one must assume the code is correct and the product does not recognize it, another DEFICIENCY.

I am hopeful someone can assist me not only in installing the product, but in explaining why I am having difficulty. FYI, I am a Win 8.1 user, and do not run ANY Third Party virus or malware software.

I have installed the product. Here's what I had to do.

a) Forget the printed instructions included with the packaged product.
b) Go the Acronis Website and first set up an account. You'll need the first TWO groups (8 characters each) in your Activation Code.
c) Once you have an account, navigate to the "Register Your Product" page (or some similar name). Don't ask me how I got there because I don't remember.
d) On that page, complete the info, which includes your entire activation code. If the web page acknowledges that you are the owner, by virtue of a successful registration, you can start your install.
e) I had two hung installs until 1) I rebooted and 2) turned off my anti virus (Windows Defender), but eventually the s/w installed.
