Question on Reliability and Usability of TIH 2014

Thread needs solution

I have been using TIH 2010 for 2 or 3 years now. It is reliable and I like the GUI. I upgraded to 2011 and it was terrible. Froze; crashed; and the new GUI was unusable. Support was pathetic. Designed for newbies.
I went back to 2010. Fast forward to TIH 2012 .. same story. Unreliable, terrible GUI and the forums full of complaints and issues and examples of pathetic support.
Now my 2010 is getting long in the tooth but it makes a perfectly good sector by sector image of Windows 8. I do not need real time backup or online backup. I keep it really simple. It is safer that way.
So my question is:

How is the quality; reliability and the GUI of TIH 2014 and is there any issue with all my existing TIB files?
Thanks

I was like you: I bought 2010 ages ago and I still use it now... a lot, but I won't anymore actually. It is getting long in the tooth, and it is now time to retire it for me at least.

2014 is a sorry shadow of what its predecessor was.

I purchased the software with the intention of using it to replace 2010 to make and distribute disk images among 25 computers. Sadly, the 2014 system was "too new" and caused a kernel panic in a bunch of old Dell Optiplex 755s.
I know for a fact files made with 2014 software are not compatible with 2010 software. I don't know if 2010 tibs are compatible with 2014.

I don't know if I can say this here, but if you've ever played Mass Effect, the opposite of Renegade is essentially what I am using now.

Why would you expect them to be? MS Word 98 cannot open files made with MS Word 2010. An old application can't be expected to open files made with a newer version containing newer features that the old version did not include.

True Image will restore images made with the same or earlier version. Backups made with ATI 2010 can be restored with ATI 2014. That's all that matters.

Any why not?

2014 bootable media causes a kernel panic on some old corporate computers my job wanted me to put Windows 7 on. It also crashes when I attempt to use the software to do the process too.

Effectively, any backups I made using 2014 are useless.

Well, I just bought the 2014 "premium" version last night and the very first backup archive is corrupt when I try to restore it. I've been using TI 11 for some time without any problems, but this isn't cool at all. It said the backup completed successfully after 1.5 hours (255 GB), but a validate won't work. It doesn't appear to be anything to do with USB3 since it errors out with the USB3 backup drive plugged into any port. I was hoping that this version would allow me to do Intel "raid" backups, copies and also utilize USB3. Can I expect more of this?

"Corrupted" is, unfortunately, a rather non-specific error message, in spite of its rather specific sounding term. It really just means that ATI can't validate the archive, which can be caused by disk errors or connection errors, rather than any problems with the .tib file itself.

Validation failure is often due to hardware issues. To troubleshoot, see Grover's new backup and restore guides http://forum.acronis.com/forum/29618 and http://kb.acronis.com/content/1517

Run chkdsk /r on each partition of the internal drive, and on the external HD. If there are hidden partitions, assign letters to them so you can chkdsk.
Also run a drive checking utility from the drive manufacturer, as those sometimes catch errors missed by chkdsk.

Don't connect via a hub, a port in a monitor, a USB extension cord, etc. Connect the external drive directly to a USB port on the rear of the computer case.
