In my one laptop with WindowXP, when it need to shut down, it says: Failed to activate Acronis Bootable Agent.

In my another laptop with window7, it does shut down, but after displaying "Starting Acronis Loader..." it becomes dark all the time-dead window.

Hi,

I have exactly the same issue with my True Image Home 2010 Version 6053 on Windows 7.
Always tells me "Failed to activate Acronis Bootable Agent."

Anybody knows what it is?

2009 was working fine (under Win XP).

Thanks
Andi

For Recovery use the bootable True Image Rescue media CD to do recovery.

I am not an old user of "Acronis True Image", could you tell me where and how get 'the bootable True Image Rescue media CD" please!

From the installed software look among the menu items for something like "Create Rescue Media CD" or words to that effect.

Hello DwnNDrty:

I found the "Creat bootable rescue media" in the drop down "Tools & Utilities"
Following the instruction, I made the "bootable rescue media" in a flash memory.

When I do the recovery, I plug the flash memory in the PC. The result is the same "Failed to activate Acronis Bootable Agent"(with XP) or after "Starting Acronis Loader..." stopped (with window7).

I don't know what is wrong! --Zhao

Please clarify that the laptop is able to boot from the Flash Memory device. If it is then I'm out of ideas.

From "Tools & Utilities">"Creat bootable rescue media" ....We can see:
Bootable media type selection
Select a drive to be used to creat bootable media
The list contains all available devices that can be
used to creat bootable media. You can creat CD, DVD,
USB flash drive or ..........

Could you tell the details of the "bootable rescue media"?

Yumin,
Maybe item 5 inside my signature index can help explain the role of the Rescue CD. Acronis also can create the Acronis bootable flash drive as a substitute for the CD. Acronis recommends that when restoring the system partition or disk that the restoration be done when booted from the Rescue CD (or flash drive, etc). This is why DwnNDrty made this suggestion in a prior posting above.

Hello all!

Thank you for finding time to report about the issue and please accept my apologies for the delay with the response.

I'd like to thank DwnNDrty and GroverH for valuable comments and assistance. I just wanted to add that this error usually occurs due to the issues with the installation of the product, and we recommend you to make sure you are using the latest build of the software (it is available at your account here).

Also it is strongly recommended to perform all recovery attempts from the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media CD.

Acronis Bootable Rescue Media allows you to perform offline backup or recovery - usually it is needed when you would like to restore system partition or your machine just crashed. I would advise you to take a look at the chapter 15 in the User's Guide for more details.

Currently you can download the latest version of it directly from your account.

Please keep in mind that only bootable media of n-1 versions are available for direct download (at the moment n = Acronis True Image Home 2010; n-1 = Acronis True Image Home 2009). For *iso images of Acronis True Image Home 11 or older you need to contact support.

You can create the Acronis Bootable Rescue Media by means of the product as well:

Tools -> Options -> Create Bootable Rescue Media.

Please note that it can be not only the CD or DVD, but a flash drive as well. I would suggest you to look at the instruction regarding its creation either in our knowledgebase or in the Guide created by MudCrab.

Should you need anything else or have any further questions - feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience, we will be happy to help you!

Thank you!
