Recovery from Emergency boot disk

Thread needs solution

I have haveTrue image 15 and have had  many of the earler versions. I regularly run backups and have made a number of "Emenrgency Boot Disks as recommended. However, I suddenly thought that I should simulate a Total Hard Disk Crash and try to Boot using the Emergency Disk. No matter what I try, I cant get the computer to bood from the disk.

I am using a Sony Vaio Laptop and Windows 10

Can anyone help please

Ray, there are several reasons why the Acronis bootable rescue media may not boot correctly.

The first thing to check is how your Windows 10 system is booting?  See Check if your PC uses UEFI or BIOS to determine this.  The Acronis Rescue Media must be booted in the same way as used for Windows.

Next, if you are using the standard Acronis Rescue media, then this is a Linux based OS media and you may need to turn off Secure Boot if you have an EFI BIOS as this setting is designed to prevent less secure OS's from booting where Microsoft deem Linux to be such!

Third, with Windows 10, please ensure that you either disable Fast Boot / Fast Startup or that you do a Restart when attempting to boot from the Rescue Media.  The reason here is that Windows Fast Start does a form of hibernation when shutting down and this is an incorrect system state from which to try to boot the rescue media.

Lastly, there is the option of creating the Windows PE version of the Acronis Rescue media which is in effect the equivalent of a Windows boot environment and should work with Secure Boot enabled etc.
