Recovery Partition Backup

Thread needs solution

I soon will installing Acronis True Image Home 2012.I have done a backup using 2011 and then plan to uninstall that. I have the Plus Pack but never had cause to use its features. Anyway gone for 2 x Acronis True Image Home 2012 and 1x the Plus pack upgrade.
Hopefully by getting 2 licences I'll be able to sync things nicely between desktop and laptop (although I do already sync things of note with Good Sync).
I am writing in this section of the forum, as I'm still not 100% certain what I should backup - Just the C drive, or the C drive and Recovery partition ?
I am using Vista Ultimate OEM. I was never able to create any Recovery discs and whenever I've had to recover had to use the Recovery partition. Obviuosly if that was ever damaged and a full recovery needed I'd be in a pickle.
So in a way I'd rather not create a backup of the Recovery Partition as fear that if ever I used such a backup I'd somehow damage it.
I suppose I could routionely backup just the C drive , but also make one emergency backup of C drive and recovery partition to a completely different external drive to the normal backup one. In this way could if needed use a backup of the C drive, and if that did not resolve the issue still do a full Recovery.
I wonder what would happen if ever did run a full recovery from the Recovery partition and then afterwards used a backup of the C drive and Recovery partition ...

I'd backup the entire hdisk. Iirc, Vista expects the partition to be there.

IF you have a full disk backup, then whatever happens, even if the thos whole hdisk goes south, you can recover with the ati backup.
