Recovery using external drive ATIH2009

Thread needs solution

I completed a clean install of XP and want to bring the system back to its last good working state.
a- I have a backup of all the drives on an external drive
b- I ran virus software on the external drive to clean up the files
c- This is what the partitions looked liked when I backed up:
Partition 1(FAT) 55MB (47MB Free)
C: Partition 2(NTFS) 71469MB (43264 MB Free)
unpartitioned space 8 MB
E: Partition 3(FAT 32) 4754MB (880 MB Free)
unpartitioned space 8 MB
d- I have installed Acronis Backup & Recovery 9
Now I need to know if I can restore the above partitions and bring it back to this state, even though I now only have one partition - which is the C: drive after the clean install. If I can, I need step-by-step instructions of how to accomplish this without making the system crash again.
Your help is greatly appreciated

If you restore all the partitions as they were, your clean install of XP will be overwritten.

A) If you want to keep your clean install, you will have to reinstall all programs manually, and then you can restore your data folders using your backup.

B) If you are OK with rewriting your disk, then boot on the Acronis recovery CD, launch ATI from the CD, start the restore, and restore all your partitions (click the checkbox at the disk level), including your MBR & track0 and your disk signature.

Note: if your backup contains only certain partitions, you will not be able to restore your disk as it was.
