Rename existing backups

Thread needs solution

I have three system backups (made with Acronis 2010) with un-friendly names that I would like to rename with friendly names.

SystemBackup_2_22_2011.tib

System_C_Full sw03_03_2011.tib

System_C_09_12_2011(1).tib

I cannot see how to do this.

I don't know if you are using Secure Zone or not but if you are not, then I would make a backup of the file you want to rename, then rename the original and then verify that it works. It seems that it would work but I never tested it so rather then being sorry, be safe and make a copy first before you try this.

Colin,

I know exactly what you mean. It bother me as well, that acronis is so badly programmed. You can not rename existing backups!

The only way I have found is a work-around. You have to delete the backups and create new one's! (But as you now know, when creating don't make any mistakes... afterwards you will not able to change it! :-(

joshi4,

To rename existing backup, you can use the move backup command. Not ideal. The drawback is that it changes the destination of future backups.

Pat L,
So you understand that this is not an customer-friendly solution?

It's just unbelivable that this issue have not been fixed yet. I know it many years, the previous versions had the same problem.

Yep, I understand.
